Time to get focused on the last 2 months before race day.  I did my "tune-up" HIM this past weekend with Ironman Augusta and had great (for me) finish time of 5:31:53.  Pacing and nutrition were spot on so this was a great confidence builder.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Cozumel.

I had my tune-up HIM at Redman and came out with a sprained big toe.  Oops.

I was at Augusta 70.3 also. Great race! Although I was worried about riding in the rain. I kept thinking about wrecking before IM COZ.

I did Augusta too! Great race! I changed my nutrition from Perpetuem to Infinit and that was the first day I used it and what a great product. I PR'ed by 1hr and 15 mins! I'm looking forward to pushing it out for the next 8 weeks! See you guys in Cozumel!!! (Working a lot of overtime to get a few more bells and whistles)

What kind of wheels are you all planning on using?  I'm really debating getting some aero wheels but am having a hard time justifying the cost.

My husband bought me Zipp 404 tubulars as a surprise!!!! I love them ;-).....

It is pretty windy in Cozumel from what I understand so they don't allow certain wheels like discs...etc...Oh I can't wait!!!

I am going to go with an 808 front and rear setup for wheels. I am wondering about my waterbottle setup. On the IMCOZ website it says there are aid stations every 10K's on the bike which is quite often. Passing that many aid stations has me contemplating carrying only one bottle. Any others do this race in the past have comments on this?

I wanted to do the same, but didn't see Cozumel as an event they would be covering. Will they ship them to CZM?

Just finished a cool windy hilly 75.8 mile ride.  Longest ride of the year for me.  Looking to do a century next weekend.  I can't believe how close it is getting.  How is everyone else doing with their trianing?

Swim and run are doing ok. My riding needs some improvement, and fast! Being inside 60 days is good motivation though.

They actually ran out of water last year on the bike course.  At first they just ran out of sports bottles and you had to stop and have them pour the big jug of water into your aerobottle or sports bottle.  And then I think they completely ran out of water later on.  I was actually toward the slower end of the bike due to mechanical issues- my saddle was loose and then completely fell off.  They had zero bike mechanics on the course and I had no help.  Wasted about 45 mins trying to get another athlete to toss me an extra tool, and then wasted more time trying to get my saddle back on- fun times.

Also, the bike SN's was a huge cluster f#*k.   They didn't have the bags arranged in bins or by numbers or anything.  It took me about 10 mins to find my bag- it was laying on the ground off to the back which was totally random.  Also, once people tapped into their SN bags and left them they never separated the touched/untouched bags.  So on top of having a hard time finding my bag, I was climbing over and stepping on SN bags that had already been used.  It was awful- huge time waster.

So with that said, hopefully they will have a better grip on the bike SN bags and have more organization.  Looking back I would have carried as many bottles as possible with me just in case I couldn't find my bike SN bag.  It wouldn't surprise me if they got lost with their current set up.

I threw on a bike jersey in T1 so I wouldn't have to worry about getting sunburned on the bike and had plenty of pockets in the back to put an extra bottle or 2.

This Friday will be my first century ride as well.  I've done a couple of 75 & 85 mile rides.  Run is going good except on long runs the side of my left foot starts to hurt.  Pool swim is good but I need to get more long swims in the open water.

runnergirl- thanks for the info.  I was thinking of just carrying 2 bottles that I could just throw away and grab new ones as needed.  Ill have to re-think my hydration and special needs strategy.

Thanks for the info. I will probably just carry 2 bottles to be safe and throw a powerbar in my jersey. I have done one other ironman and like then will just put in a spare tubular in it in case of a flat and I have to use the one on the bike, otherwise I just skip SN.

Question about nutrition needs along the bike ride....

Are we allowed to get bars, water, bottles etc. from family members along the route and outside of the designated bag area?

Tks.

No.  Either put it in your special needs bag, or take a hand-off from one of the aid stations.

Hey All,
Had a decent HIM(with no swim) at Myrtle beach. Been lazy for a few days, but mostly back on track now.
Planning on having a HED3 rear and not sure about front.
I am going with Aero Bottle, DownTube Bottle and most likely PD rear bottle holders. I want to be as self reliant as possible, just in case.
Going to take a few weeks to rehab my achilles-no running, but will do elliptical and steep treadmill walking to try to keep the legs in shape.
Really getting excited!
