All that being said, I felt like a huggies "occupant" last few days, but getting better, thankfully! Uh oh. Doesn't sound like you've had a pleasant few days.... |

I'm with ya on the crabby mood....did not want to get out of bed, kids were loud and fighting this morning, need to exchange new kicks so can't run right now, hmmmm maybe I can mash my peddles to stomp out the crabbiness! I think I just need the sun, it was out for a bit yesterday but I was stuck inside I wasn't reading closely and got it that your kids were loud this morning so I read this as you need to exchange new KIDS. haha! Feel like I would like to exchange my kids sometimes. Ran my fastest 3 miles EVER tonight! Soooooo excited. |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge Morning everyone! Yesterday was a crazy day. I am so glad it is OVER!! Today dawns a bit brighter and not so busy. Thank heavens. Run and bike on tap for me. Here is the link to the Larabar recipe. So far, they have all turned out great. Even Alex liked them and she doesn't like anything. I made peanut butter cookie, PB&J, and pecan pie. I haven't tried the pecan pie yet but Bry is trying it today. So, it's Super Bowl weekend. Who is everyone routing for? |

Champion 5522 Frisco, TX | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge did a 2miler yesterday followed by a swim - the swim was full of foot and leg cramps - no fun! Guess I need to practice that transition if I am going to do Aquathon this year.... Lunch plans - 4 mile run, a Jorge workout tonight on the CT with a short transition run afterwards... Not sure about tomorrow yet, I will swim - most likely 1200 or so of mostly drills and short yardage, bike - most likely a 2hr + ride and probably a run for good measure... Typing this makes me reflect on it some - I think I need an intervention |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge First brick of 2010 in the books for me. Of course since it is still winter, the bike was on the trainer so my transition included a wardrobe change. And my run was weird. My stomach growled for the first half. Then, I ran past a farmer who was spreading manure in his fields. Yeah, I spent the next mile+ trying not to puke. Gross! Now I am back home and hungry again. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge I'm jealous of all of you that are able to do the lunch workouts. I'm not usually in the position to be able to do a lunch workout. I am having a lunch workout of sorts today. I am going to the social security office to request a replacement social security card. Lost mine years ago but haven't needed one since its on my driver's license and passport. Then they changed the ID requirements and I can't renew my driver's license with out a handful of ID, including the social security card. Now I don't have a valid passport, drivers license, or social security card. To get any of these I need the others. I just got a copy of my birth certificate in the mail ($50 to overnight from Alaska) so hopefully I can get the process started to get the other stuff replaced. Plus, because the company I work for does work with the government, there is the new I9 verification that has to be done. I have until the end of the month to get all of my ID replaced to prove who I am so I can continue working for the same company I've worked at for years. Oh, and they made a photocopy of my passport when I started, but since it expired, it no longer counts. Anyone want to trade lunch activities? Edited by pdbman 2010-02-05 11:19 AM |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge I managed to get a 45 min drainer ride in just about an hour ago. Had to take the day off from work due to having a sick wife. Luckily, she's almost back to 100%. Had a weird 24-hour bout with vertigo. Doctor said it's probably related to a sinus infection she had last week. Since she's feeling better, I got my workout in. I just need to get a 5 mi treadmill run in tomorrow or Sunday and I'll be on track with my goals for week 1. The first snowflakes are just starting to fall and they just upped our expected accumulation for the next 24 hours to 18-24 inches. I'm actually kinda looking forward to playing out in the snow with the kids tomorrow. We got to the grocery store and (more importantly) the liquor store today, so we're all stocked up. Those of you who are still at work, don't hate me... I just poured a glass of red wine and now I'm going to watch (an oldie, but a goodie movie) Teen Wolf with my 6-year-old daughter. Have a great weekend, H.U.G.S.!!!!! |

I went through a lot of this recently, when I moved. It was crazy. Oh, and I can't do lunch workouts either. The local Y has a Master's swim group that practices from 12-1 PM Mon-Friday. Um, yeah. That's not going to happen. |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge Hi team! Looks like a few great workouts today! I however am an exercise slacker today. I was up at 5:15 to do leftover office notes from earlier in the week so that I could see more folks in the offie today and get behind again. Regular little hamster wheel my life is! I just got home and I think I would drown if I tried to swim at 8 tonight. Waiting to have my cosmo until I am back from driving my 17 yo to her Valentines dance. It seems she and a friend are going with a big hair Jersey Shore look. I can't tell you how bad it looks. I will just smile and take pics that I can torture her with some day when she is 30! |

Lunch was turkey and goat cheese on homemade foccacia with homemade olive relish, mustard, and sliced pepperoncinis.... A spinach salad with balsamic vinegar dressing (very light on oil), cherry tomatoes, and shredded carrots. Oh yeah, and peach yogurt for dessert.... Bike run brick.... Share your foccacia recipe? Sure.... 2 3/4 cups water, 1/4 cup EV olive oil, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 1/2 tbsp yeast, 1 1/2 tbsp kosher salt 6 1/2 cups flour - mix the first 5 items together and then add the flour, stir or use dough hook to mix. Set aside and let rise for 2 hours. Cover well with a nearly airtight cover and refrigerate overnight and up to 10-12 days. Remove from refrigerator, dust top of dough with flour. Take approximately 1 - 1 1/2 lbs of dough (the batch usually makes three loaves for me) - form quickly into a ball by stretching the sides and tucking them under. Form the ball into an oblong loaf and either hand press or roll it out to be about 1/2 thick (I usually have to let it rest once for a couple of minutes). Put on a cookie sheet either on parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Brush top lightly with some EV olive oil. I season it with a heavy pinch of kosher salt, several grinds of fresh ground black pepper, some granualted garlic and some of the store bought Italian seasoning. (I have also used sauteed onions and fresh rosemary, but that is better for an app than a sandwich.) Let rest for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 425. Put a metal baking dish on the bottom rack of the oven - it needs to be deep enough to hold 1 cup of water. A 13 x 9 dish or would work. Put the bread in the oven on a middle (or mid-top) rack, pour 1 cup of water into the bottom pan, close oven door. Cook for 25 minutes. I usually set the timer for 20 minutes and then check the browning. It it is a good golden color, I will put a piece of foil over the top to stop the bread from browning more... Try to not eat it all in sitting - but I warn you it is very tasty straight out of the oven.... BTW - the dough makes a great pizza dough as well... Edited by ashort33 2010-02-05 6:36 PM |
