It has been beautiful here this month so far, which sucks for points, but I am still able to swim so I am loving it. It kills my time because I can't swim very fast in my dive suit, complete with booties, gloves, and hood, but at least I am still in the water. It would be nice if the local college took better care of their pool, but it is a couple of lily pads and some goose crap short of being open water. The temp is all over the place, never the same two days in a row, and it is the only indoor pool I have ever seen with a sandy bottom. I am not looking forward to having to move inside.

What do you mean moving it inside? Get out there and get those outdoor water points!!

I would say something to the staff. Give it a try it can't hurt!

charles-goff - 2010-11-08 4:38 PM While it was too warm for any points when I got out Saturday afternoon for my run/bike combo, how do I go about scoring my swim. It was about 40 with winds around 15mph with water temps around 50. Thank God for my dive suit, a little bulky to swim in, but I get about a month of extra OWS.

I think you should at least get some polar bear points for that one.

I have got nothing - maybe we should just give you the title now because you are crazy!!!!!!

Maybe some long time vets can add their 2 cents worth because if you are going to swim I guess we need to find some sort of point multiplier.  Maybe 2 points.

Anyone have a problem with that?  I don't think wind would factor because water is cold no matter what and wind chill does not play into it but this is just a suggestion - nothing in stone yet.

I think that we should figure out some kind of multiplier, cold water swimming deserves recognition.

Nice job commuting in the cold and snow and dark yesterday, Scott!

Glad you're feeling better Bill!

18* this morning so I had to extend my run a little   Looking forward to building up to some serious CWWC points.

Scored some points on the way into work, but temp was 35.2 according to weather underground when I started my run.   oh well that would have been a tough one to figure, it was up to 40 by the time I finished.

Evening ride done. Points earned. Just wanted to make sure my point calculation is right. Temp = 37 and wind = 7 mph. So I have temp = 0, wind = 1, bike = 1. So time 42 * 2 = 84. Is that right?

It was 51 degrees at 5am this morning, so not getting any points this week. Supposed to change by the weekend, looks like we might get some snow.

Finally got a crappy ride in.  10.7 mile commute in 32 degree snow.  took 50 minutes.  Not much wind to speak of though but I will check the weather history on Wunderground to get accurrate readings.

Not looking good for points at the moment. Maybe if I hold out and go for a late run. We'll see how it goes.

Happy Veterans' Day y'all.
Got a good ride in today, although the forecast wasn't accurate so I didn't get the precipitation muliplier to go along with it.
Got 2 hour bike ride in this afternoon in 30-35 degrees with 5-10 winds....  Need to work on my layering a little bit.

Did a crisp nighttime ride last night - thought it might be a chance for points.  I got home and the temp was 41.  Boo!

I have a 5 mile race tomorrow morning and snow is predicted.  It better be 35 or less!  I am hoping for 32-34

My only chance for points is Sunday or next weekend. I am starting a block of VO2 training all on the treadmill. My coach is going for gold on these workouts. I hope I survive.

My vote would be for 34. 32 or even 31 doesn't get you any more points, its just colder.

Didn't get in a run last night. It was 10:00 when I got home and I was just too tired to dress up and head out into the cold. I just checked the weather and I probably should have gone though. Temps hit 35 at 10:00 so I would have earned some points.

I'm in the same boat.  It's in the low 40's at night and low 60's during the day.  That plus working of my Master's has pretty much put me out of this challenge.  I'll be cheering the rest of you on from the sidelines (at least for this challenge).  See you out on the running and biking trails!!!
