Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Gabe- I've always respected Northwestern, and my youngest daughter is interested in it, but I think mostly because one of the school colors is purple, but my heart, my money and two of my daughters are at Michigan State. BTW I love what you are doing in Guatemala, I wish I could be there. People like you can lead the land of eternal spring into a great future. 46.10 on the bike. But, Northwestern would be a great alternative! Of course if she is a football fan U of M is a much better choice. When I was at NU (more than a few years back), they managed to lose every single game in 5 years and come up with the longest loosing streak in college football. |

Veteran 1900 Southampton, Ontario | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Completed the Sleeping Giant Xterra triathlon this weekend. I stepped back a bit and did the sprint as the full featured a 17km trail run which seemed above what my current lack of run training would support. My swim was okay and I tried to push the pace the best I could., I did get out of the water very dizzy again which is something I have to look in to. The bike was a flat and fast double track, no single track at all so certainly not technical at all but that was okay. I managed to pass 6 or 7 on the bike. The run was a flat out and back 5k with about 3.5km of single track which was great fun. I did get passed by 2 people (normally I loose a few places on the run) but otherwise I ran as best I could. At the end of the day I was pleased with the race, felt I gave it all I had and finished 3rd in my age group. Best result ever so I am happy about that. With the series wrapped up I might look at some fall running races and a century ride. |

Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Ended up getting home late on Friday - no workout. Nice hour ride pulling my 5 year old around Troy on Saturday. Was going to bike on Sunday but remembered I have my annual physical on Tuesday. They draw blood for PSA test. Cycling within 48 holurs of the test can result in false positives with the need to retest or doctors pushing for a biopsy. This happened to me two years ago. So no cycling yesterday. Hoping to get to the pool tonight to close out the month. regarding the college visits - loved Northwestern. I'm now angry with my mom (not really) for not exposing me to such a beautiful school back in 1989. Really liked U of Chicago but Evanston is a lot nicer than the south side of Chicago. Made a mistake of taking the green line L to close to campus. Wouldn't do that again. I started to ponder how quick we could run.... Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED 58 minute runch. Work, anniversary, and moving daughter #2 to college killed all training this weekend. We are down to 2 kids at home and 4 sports all year, instead of 4 kids and 4 sports a season. The caveat is daughter #2 was recruited to row for Michigan State, we will see how that goes. Her first workout/tryouts are tomorrow. Mitch-I really like Northwestern's Campus, probably one of nicest ones I've seen. The school is pretty good too. Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Following three posts are between a coach I was considering hiring and myself. I'd love feedback - is he a jerk or trying to motivate me? EMAIL 1 to Me: Hi Mitch, Ok...here is my 2016 team. 22 men and woman signed contracts and paid for 2016. 8 training for IM Louisville 8 training for an IM 70.3...probably Steelhead and one more 6 training for sprints, olympics and marathons. Tommorrow...I will create a mailing list with all of the 2016 team... Coach ____ 2016 Triathlon Team..and we will begin our journey... my 10th...to get to Kona!!!! I hope you join us...Today is the deadline.. So why do I need a deadline? I have to submit a roster to all my sponsers like Carhartt, GU, XTERRA, FRASER Bike, Newton, Trek, and I hope many more.. so I need my team finalized. Today is the deadline...I hope you reply that you are joining us. IM 70.3 will be a contract for 750 dollars IM 140.6 will be a contract for 1500 dollars. I will provide 800 hours of training next year. My swim Coach ____ will provide over 100 hours of specialized swim coaching. I know you have lots to balance...think about...family...wife...daughters....I get it.. But I will tell you...you were a special rider..fast..and we would be honored to have you. But....on the other hand..I have gotten picky as I am more established...and I am looking for quality...not quantity....so..I hope you decide yes. But today is the deadline. Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED My response: My apologies - thought the deadline was tomorrow. I've done a lot of thinking and analysis on the subject. I think if I could attend the swim and your training sessions regularly I would get a TON from being on your team. Given my residence and work location in Troy, I'm not sure that will be the case. I will put a 140.6 distance race off at least one more year and focus on having a healthy season next year with one or two 70.3 races. As my littlest one gets a bit older I hope to have the time to benefit better from your services. With all of the above in mind, I'll train independently next year and look to run into you periodically at Kensington. I want to keep in touch and hopefully I will see you and your team at Steelhead next year! I really appreciate the time that you spent educating me on your services and I hope you have another great year training and racing! Thank you! Mitch Edited by trisuppo 2015-08-31 8:04 PM |

Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED His reply: Understood... I probably won't be around next year....I think 10 years will be it for me! I am going for it..in 2016. Then I will retire. I get it what you are saying...I have heard it before....After all these years...I see people like you ...and I see people like Paul It is so much easier ..not to go for it...it is so much easier to rationalize not going for it.... Never... that's free coaching advice... Then...I realize what a special group we have in 2016.....that was put together ..person by person...one by one..and it is a once in a life opportunity. I have put together a great group of men and woman for 2016.. We invited you...No one else. No one. It will be a year never repeated. So ..in the end......I have seen 100 men and woman... 50 are like Paul..they figure it out...they become IronMen....they are great business people.. husbands and fathers..they get it done... The other 50....they believe they can get it done alone....and they never do....they never become IronMen...I have heard 1000 excuses. They rationalize...They will NEVER GET IT DONE. Mitch, I see this now after all these years of coaching...I see who will make it and who will not... I am really surprised. I thought you would be an IronMan. I was so wrong. That's why I spent so much time with you. I thought you had it... No Mitch, if you don't want to join us now.... then we don't want to be with you. You can do it alone. A team is a group of men and woman that care about each other...work together...support each other... get through 52 weeks of training together.. And individual training alone...is by himself. Coach _____ P.S. No need to respond...today.....but I want you to send me an email in two years...about how you completed the IronMan on your own without a team... I doubt I will ever hear from you again. |

I think you should be relieved that you did not give him your money. Personally that would give me a fire to say F U and do it, then tell him what he is when I'm done. Also, there are coaches in the Detroit area that are professional and able to help you with your training, not this joker. |
