First Brick today.

Team warmed up 20 minutes, and then we did 15 minutes of spinning (speed depending on event) and then 5 minutes running. I did it 3 times and the experts did it 4 times. The newest members did it twice.

I think this appeals to the easily bored ADD person in me. I liked having to be organized and I liked changing it up. We'll see how I feel about swim/bike transitions... got my new team transition Matt...it's nice. But it's not very big!!

Next time I'm bringing my new phone so I can take some photos, it was SO beautiful on Virginia Key this morning!

Sprint tri done.  6th in my age group.  Swim was fine.  (Getting a sleeveless wetsuit soon.)  About 11 mins in the water an with the run and stripping of the wet suit, came in just over 2 mins/100.  The bike was 21.1 average for 13 miles.  Got caught in bike traffic getting in and out of the park.  But all good.  Run = HOT.   Weather was sunny and in the low 90s by then.  Did 9:40/mile for 3.17 miles.  Transitions were good.  1:24 overall.

Was this at Oleta State Park?  Sounds like it.  If so, that's where I did the Spartan Race.  Tough, tough trails!

Ann-Marie

Yes Ann Marie, it was Oleta. I have a friend who did the Spartan Race...I probably have photos of you! Looked like fun. I'm going to ask Marlon when they'll do the other trail again. We just don't have much for trail running down here and I really liked it. But they are mountain bike trails so running on them would be dangerous unless it's closed for a running event. Bike Fit - I have yet to get my proper bike fit but I found the right shop. My friend took one look at me on my bike and said 'your seat is too low' and fixed it. Voila! I would like to get my shoes adjusted too so they hit the pedals a bit further back on my sore foot. Maybe I'll go do that today! Thanks for the reminder! I did my iRow mp3 (from iTrain.com) workout on my Concept2 last night. It was really good! 5200 meters in a half an hour of drills was a nice workout. The erg can be too easy sometimes without a little direction. Since I don't use headphones/music when I run and bike, it was kinda nice to have a voice and some music during the workout. Stephanie

Is this the park just off 163rd street, passing the bridge? My dad lives very close to it, you can actually see the park from his balcony (if I'm talking about the correct park) I used to go there all the time with the kids for pic-nic

I'm having a really hard time for the last 3 weeks, wife has a new work schedule that leaves me with less time to gym and more time at home with ids, also a new project at work took longer than I expected, haven't had a day off for the last 13 days.

My bike is collecting dust in the corner of my bedroom and my gym bag cooking in the trunk.

But good times coming around, in 10 days both kids are going to Brazil to spend 9 weeks so I should have enough time to ride bike and run outside.

That's the one.  It is a wonderful place to picnic, kayak, run or ride bikes!  You should definitely go there next time you're visiting your dad.

Hey All,

Just a quick reminder that we should all ride with some ID.  I normally attach my driver’s license to my iPhone and bring it with me.  However, as luck would have it, I did not take it with me on this Saturday.  Long story short, I crashed my bike, broke my helmet and have a severe concussion.  As I was later informed, I was basically “out” on my feet for about three-five minutes.  I do not remember talking to the many people who stopped to see if I was ok.  Luckily, I was riding with a friend who was able to call my wife to come get me.  Needless to say, I am grounded from any training for a while (advice of doctor and more importantly advice of wife) and am now going to buy one of those snazzy Road IDs.

Anyway, I have come to really appreciate the advice and help from this group, so I wanted to share my lesson learned.   I hope all your training is going well and safe.  And please remember to ride with ID.

Glad you're (mostly) OK!

I've got a dogtag ID with emergency contact info on it that I wear for every ride/run.

I have a Road ID, got it for Christmas from my husband.

Thanks for the reminder, I have gone out a time or two without it. Shame on me.

I hope you heal quickly, take it easy on your noggin.

Glad you're ok.  I actually keep my road id on my bike, so I don't forget when I go for a ride.  Now I just have to work on remembering to put it on my wrist as I am pretty sure that the EMTs won't be searching my handlebars for ID

Hey fuzzers, how is everyone's June so far? I get the feeling there are races happening... news?

My swimming is getting easier as I get more fit. Very happy with that. I'm not spending any time on the bike really, so I need to change that.

I have one of the interactive road ID's.  There is a pin number that EMT's can use to access medical information.  Since I'm on so many different meds and have allergies thought that would important.

Glad you are ok Smack! Scary. I wear a road ID too. Congrats on what sounds like a great race Iceman. The first tri of my summer is tomorrow, i'm not planning on pushing it too hard, just want to enjoy it since I'm not in the kind of shape I want to be in due to missing a lot of training at end of May, beginning of June. I guess I'm a bit nervous... Most of all I hope it doesn't rain, I'll be very tempted to skip it if it's raining...

maybe that's all I needed to hear to get my head in this... I just put my bike in the car and had a big pasta dinner, so I'm that much closer to doing it, rain or shine : ) I know I'll be out there tomorrow am, i'd be so disappointed in myself if I wimped out because of weather.

Hi guys, I did it, I got my arse out of bed at 6am and did a tri. What I really love about doing tris is they are over by 10:30 am (the ones I do) and you get to saunter around the rest of the day knowing you did a TRIATHLON!!! Its fun... that alone makes it worth it. The race was hard, the hills were uh...extremely HILLY. The chain on my bike fell off THREE TIMES! twice while going up hill which is very awkward for starting up again... but it was good, a very challenging course all around.  I want to tell you my times but I didnt wear a watch and they haven't posted the results yet.

I didn't train hard for this race, my next race is in August and I want to KILL that race, its a big one and I will start making a much more concentrated effort with my training starting this week.

WOO HOO! The bike chain thing is weird. It's the one thing I know how to handle. I still fear the flat tire. GOOD LUCK training for your August race! That's when I'm considering doing my first.

Meanwhile, 10k on June 24th. Longest race...just need to DO something longer than a 5k. Ready or not!
