I know you want to be closer to the kids.  But is the job something you would like to transfer across country for?

Yes.

If -
1) You + SO are cool with it.
2) It will make you happier.
3) If you can tolerate leaving the land of granola.
4) It gets you a better chance to see the kids
5) You will come up to Richmond to play with Jen, Judi & I

OK, 1-4 are serious considerations, but if you move closer, you must visit us.

Spokes - 2008-11-13 8:52 PM Keith Emerson is STILL a huge badazz keyboard player despite arthritis
Spokes, you're random. As in, I love you, but you're random. Just saying...

I saw ELP live in DSM in 1977, with a 50+ piece symphony orchestra. Excessive art rock at its finest.

Keith is playing really well if you look carefully at how messed up his right hand is with age now

Its the bipolar stuff. I think of random crap constantly.

I bumped into my teacher the other day after class-he commented on the huge contrast I have day to day...most mornings I get my meds, but occasionally I don't take them until after class. He says that he is smirking on the inside on my 'perky' mornings (the days I already took my meds) because I 'contribute' soooooooooooo much to class discussions. It reminds him of some of his friends-who happen to be bipolar.

I also like that I'm the tall one. That does not happen very often.

Keep hanging out with us. I'm not growing.

Well, I think I'm destined to be the short child in my family.

I'm 5'6".  My 24 YO brother is 6'1", my 13 YO brother is 5'8" (!!!!!), and my 11 YO sister is 4'11".

My BIL and SIL are both taller than me too.

Oh well.

I'm 5'4"

Sugar Daddy is 6'4"

Brothers are 6'0" and 6'1"

Elder Monkey (at 6) is already wearing teen sized shoes. I'm pretty sure she's going to take after Sugar Daddy...

6K more a year, I can get a house in Raleigh for $150K. I'd be supervising a 1/2 dozen people.

Don't really want to live in the South again, though, even if its the Research Triangle.

The variable that I don't know is how the top guys that run the office are personality wise, because I'd be reporting to them, and if they're micromanagers... I just can't deal with that crap. I might as well stay where I am and put up with the crap here.

But it's the new South...remember...all those red states that went blue...

Well, at least I have a car that can make it now LOL

I don't know if it will make me 'happier' - there is a part of me that simply wants everything to settle down but damn, California is SO politically correct in everything we do its maddening. You can't get anything done.

And the South isn't?

Umm, yeah.  I hear you about micromanagers.  They suck.  Any way of getting a lead on the personalities before applying?

BTW, everyone, I appreciate the input. My psychiatrist didn't exactly discourage me from applying... he interned in Chapel Hill Tongue out

Not as bike-friendly as California, though, by a hell of a long shot. Its just interesting to think this might be a possibility. I'm not going to let people at work jerk me around again like what happened in Mississippi. People see I'm an eccentric, a nice person and they think that they can take advantage of me.

You might want to stand up for yourself there, then. Because I can't see you being really happy in North Carolina from everything you've posted thus far. Of course, being closer to your kids is worth a whole lot of you know what.
