Not the best conditions and not the best race.  1:46:10.  I'll post more when I have time - big day with extended family and dinner at our house!  Thanks for all the support gang!

Good job Mitch. We have had bad conditions to run in and you still turned in a good run.

Today was big rick day. 1:45 on the drainer followed by 59:04 on the dreadmill. I did it all without ripping my hair out, Not that I did want, just showing restraint.

Congratulations Mitch! Looks like a great time for many of us here.

Matthew - the bridge is deceptively flat. The whole city is actually quite hilly, I like this!

Gabe - you are so fortunate to be able to enjoy the most scenic places on this planet with your business now!

Congrats Mitch.  Will await to hear more details about it.

Just under 3 hours on the drainer followed by about 50 minute brick run.  Trainer and run were slower than I was hoping for. I've been pretty tired lately and due to other things in life not sleeping good. I know its not over training type of thing right now as I experienced that last year.

Anyways...question about bike training. The weather is starting to get better here and it is now light enough in the morning and evenings so that I could start commuting by bike again. Its about 8.5-9 miles each way. Given training going on right now should I just continue riding the bus to work or continue to do my regular bike workouts and then just ride easy back and forth to work?  I don't really have time to extend rides before or after work however. thoughts ideas? Would it be ok to do?

Good job Mitch. Waiting for the mile 11-12 story. Splits looked great up until that point. Get the sense you may be a bit disappointed, but don't be discouraged. That huge dose of HTFU you swallowed late in the race will serve you well. Had a similar experience with my marathon, but all it did was strengthen my resolve.

Thanks Gabe. It's kind of thrilling that this is the worlds oldest marathon. This is the 117th. It was only 24 miles the first 27 or so years, but they started 2 miles further away from Boston in 1924 to conform to the new 26.2 standard. But same straight route, only 5 turns, for that long.

If I do it next year, I'm losing weight, training better, and doing it right. I swear I'm the fattest guy here.

Chris, go make lemonade with your lemons (being undertrained and overweight), soak it in and forget times, even the 3:43 goal. Your best plan for a "first race" is to enjoy, the crowds are awesome and especially the girls from Wesleyan and the famous "scream tunnel". Get some kisses, they are free! But don't tell your wife, haha.

Jumping on the "TODAY IS MY FIRST TRI" day, I'll type up a race report soon. Did the Carmel Sprint Tri in Indianapolis area... weather was fantastic. Since i'm a competitor I hate how slow I went, but I really focused on just staying cool and getting the first one under the belt before going competely balls-to-the-wall.

Ended 152 of like 450 or 500, upper MOP. Swim was 400m and slow as molasses, but I wasn't trying to go fast, just stay cool and not freak out with other people touching or kicking me. Bike was pretty great (got the shifter fixed pre-race so it was all good to go), made a ton of ground, averaged about 20.5mph. Run was awful, cramped going into T2 and first mile was pretty bad but I picked up negative splits the rest of the time.

Excited to have finished, regardless of results I had a blast and i've definitely got the bug. Will updated when RR is done.

I'm sorry, I can't remember your name.  Way to go Penguin.  Anytime you can do your first tri and finish, it's a success.  To finish above MOP is gravy!  Congratulations.

Hah! I deserved that.

Neon green and black Newton mv2s. Neon green calf sleeves. Black shorts. Green singlet. Orange and green Newton hat.

All day was Considering running in five fingers because my calf hurt. But then a guy on a bicycle rickshaw working for Newton offered to give me a free ride to the T station. I wasn't wearing the newtons or my hat at the time. I figured this was a sign from God. I tipped him of course, but it was still a free ride.

Guilty of the awkward username club, haha, I'm Jordan. But thanks! RR is up. Best thing about today is the motivation to fix what went wrong next time around. Feels great to get the first out of the way.
