Adding 48:50 run from this morning at my in-laws in upstate NY. The heat and humidity coupled with the fact that I was running along the swampy Erie Canal made it feel like the Everglades. One of those workouts that felt terrible from the beginning and only got worse.

Adding my hours from the triathlon on Sunday along with a few more details now that I have the official results. Race report still coming.

My time was 13:13:39 which is a 33 minute improvement over last year. I picked up roughly 24 minutes on the bike and 12 minutes on the run, but lost 3 on the swim. I finished 274/785 overall and 11/51 in the 55-59 age group (last year was 327/782 and 11/51 .... hmmm)

Swim (1:31:27): 652/785 overall, 38/51 age
Bike (6:52:06): 214/785 overall, 8/51 age
Run (4:50:06): 320/785 overall, 12/51 age.

A total of 937 people started. Only 9 did not finish the swim, another 35 did not finish the bike and 98 more did not get through the run before the 15.5 hour cutoff. DNF is my age group was 23 which is pretty high, i.e., 51/74 finished the race.

Easy night mountain bike ride, 30min. Dropped the new mountain bike off yesterday due to a bad fork. It looks like the shop will be sending it into the folks at Rockshocks for a rebuild or replacement and I likely wont be able to ride my new bike for a few weeks. Good thing I vowed to Never to give up my old one.

Dave - you can never have enough bikes. I'm starting to consider buying anew road bike. Looking at high-end steel or titanium. Probably don't need custom but a lot of the builders offer just that. Jim - you know anyone riding Quiring? He's from the Manistee area.

Good luck on that HIM tomorrow Jim!

Nothing else to ADD....I've had 5 days of doing zero swim/bike/run, but will likely get out on my bike for some easy riding today and to the pool tomorrow.

@Dave so did they let you take the book or not?

Quick easy swim this morning before the wife left for the weekend. I have the baby for the weekend so we'll see if I can squeeze in any training. Maybe a trainer ride tonight after she goes down...

My Daughter tried to sign it out but it was reserved for me so only I can sign the book out. I will have to try to run to the library again tomorrow. Went for a short ride today (1:12), it started out fairly cool and the light rain, spitting really, half way through didnt help much, thankfully I was able to chase the sun. Sadly fall seems to have arrived.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
