MDHillSlug - 2009-03-17 12:30 PM BTW, on Friday I'm going to check this out

that is nice! good luck! look forward to hopefully (if things work out and you buy it of course) seeing pics of you on it! and hearing all the new fast stories!!! how did you come across it? was it listed locally?

Yes, locally, through the tri club I joined in January. The woman who currently owns it is almost the exact same height as me so I'm hoping it will fit me well. She told me that she was 10th woman, 4th AG, in the World in the Long Course World Duathlon Championship in Denmark on this bike. I hope that the bike wouldn't be sad to have me onboard.

Trish WTG on the HM, wish i can do as well in may. Speaking of HM how slow and little should i start of on my going back to running after 2 weeks of no running and a half mary in 9 weeks? My long run were 7 miles and last total (week) milage was around 15 miles.

after getting out  being yanked out of my comfort zone at work, things are starting to brighten up...and so is my mood.

Thanks Cheri for sending all that heat today, it was 8C this afternoon...but still no running for me so i can heal WAAAAAAAHAAAAAARG!

Hi everyone.  I will probably not be checking in very often for the next two weeks - depends on the computer availability.  I'm off to visit family in the US.  That also means the only exercise I'll be getting is running.  My training logs are going to look very quiet for a while.

Susie, time to get out- the current roomie does not seem to have it together. It's one thing if she is doing you a huge favour and letting you stay there free but if rent is being split or she is depending on you then the place is just as much yours as it is hers and she needs to be more flexible. As Julie said, tell her that you value your friendship but unfortunately your schedules just aren't working out. Don't let her guilt you in to staying! It is time for you to do what is right for YOU!

Take good care-

Totally agreed. I am *hoping* the meet with the potential future housemate goes well. I think we have a LOT in common and could be good friends.

Things with the roomie, I just don't understand.

SWEET! And red, too! (are you keeping the bar tape?) (When this divorce is all over, I am sooooo buying myself a tri bike, going to a triathlon camp and taking a cruise. Too bad somewhere in there I'll have to buy another car, too.)

If I buy it, the bar tape will be the first thing to go. I'd replace it with solid red.

One of my bikes is tricked out in red , but I've been on a blue kick lately (since pictured it also has a blue saddlebag and a blue and white saddle). I like that this bike brings them both together. BTW, I may have to sell the red bike to appease the "gods" and make this purchase feasible.

too bad! If I were in better financial shape, I might buy it from you. But if you ever go to sell this tri bike, you gotta let me know.

Saw STBX tonight. He's going to shut off my cell phone, but I anticipated this when I told him he'd have to pay electric and cable. I actually had to laugh on the drive home because he's complaning about the $9.99/mo -- when I got him a 17% discount! So I actually SAVED him money! While I'm paying through the roof for him to live (and smoke) in my house.

I'm actually SOOOOOOOOOOO glad that he's being a total jerk, because it makes it a lot easier for me to do what I gotta do. If he were all nice and apologetic, I might have a tough time with what I will have to do. So, no worries.

I'm going to go without a cell for a while. I told the STBX that it's because I can't afford it, which is true. But, also, I'd love to get an iPhone or something super cool when this is done, so I'd rather wait so that I can just sign a contract fresh. If I went with Verizon right now, then I'd have to break contract or wait to get the phone I really want.

I'm cooking a whole chicken with turnips and beats, so this could turn out weird!!! I reeeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyy wanted to grab junk food after our meeting becuase it was upsetting, but I did not. (it's doubly bad for me to have fast food becuase I should not eat gluten.) So, I guess that's a small victory.

As for smaller pants, I bought one pair but new. The first consignment shop didn't have *ANY*thing above a size 10. I have to go to a couple more consignment shops on Saturday. Also, I want to turn in a couple of my bigger pants.

As for training, I'm hanging in, but I won't be able to get up before 6 a.m. for a while. I would have *liked* to get up at 5:30 or 5 twice a week to work on building up one of my sessions as an endurance swim, but it's only a little while longer that I'll have to live there and no so critical since I know I could swim a sprint distance tomorrow if I had to.

I did my first bike commute of the year this morning. It's a little under 10 miles each way (the ride to work is a little longer but is generally downhill). The temp was 40F, the sun had recently risen, and it was just a bit foggy early on. It was a pretty good ride and I wasn't abused by any drivers. :)

Nice!

I can confess to my training buddies - I'm a little afraid of TT bikes! They feel so out of control to me. I can't imagine trying to ride some of the courses I've ridden in triathlons on a TT bike, so I totally admire all the people who pass me on them (and there are quite a few)!

I've never ridden a dedicated tri bike so I hope I can handle it. I'm hoping it might be more stable than aerobars on a road bike since it's designed for this.

I've got two tri's this summer that are really flat and well suited for a tri bike, including my oly.

I've yet to see it IRL or see if it fits, but I'm already thinking of it as mine. I hope it works out!

Were you running for the full time or doing 10/1 a la Running Room? When you are ready I would definitely be doing the run/walk combination so that you can build endurance to complete the distance. Throwing in walk components will allow you to go that much further.

While you are waiting to run- definitely walk- if you can do some fast paced walking, all the better. Also consider water-running/cycling/elliptical- a few summers ago, I had a stress fracture but was committed to doing my sister's first full marathon with her so I kept the endurance up with pool run sessions and long bike sessions. I got the go ahead (though a little reluctant) from my doc 4 wks before the race.

Take it easy and keep smilin'!

You are absolutely going to rock that thing! Just be sure to spend some good time on it before your race- the slight difference in geometry will work those legs in a different way- learned that one from hubby after he rode new bike in a tri after only 3 weeks of training on it and cramped up on the run. Hope you like it!

Life continues to be full of joyous times, but I'm surviving.

Haven't made the greatest eating choices in the last couple of days, but I have not had any gluten, so that's a big step forward. In the past I've been prone to cheating under stress, but I've stuck to an almost 100% nonprocessed foods. I'll find out in an hour what the damage is on the scale.

I plan to go jogging and swimming tonight. I'm really looking forward to it!

Friday night I'm meeting the potential housemate, and Saturday morning I'm going for a bike ride with my current roommate. Sunday I might go meet up with a friend from BT also, so lots of good things on the calendar to keep me busy this weekend.

How'd that happen?

I'm either at, or very close to, record low weight for me. Very exciting.
