Extreme Veteran 2098 Alberta | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Well, draft night tonight for the Pro-am alzheimer's hockey tourney. Free beer and appies...oh, oh. Play one game tomorrow and two Sunday. Good thing I have stone hands to begin with so my numb hand/shoulder shouldn't affect my scoring. Going to try sneek a bike in this weekend if possible but not sure of the post game activities... Have a good weekend everyone! |

I finally broke the 200 mark and damn it feels great. I still have a long way to go but it's happening. Training will be light for the next 3ish weeks so I can really give my leg a chance to heal right. Gonna swim 4x a week and stay off the legs. That should do the trick I think. I will be seeing the doctor about the swelling 2nd week of May so I'll just swim until then to fix the IT issues as well. No big deal I will just be that much better off by waiting. My race isn't until July anyways. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
YES!!!! Just trying to make my way through the posts here, but a huge "RIGHT ON" to you Alex! inspiration! GIVn'R |

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Good morning everyone! Had a great last couple of days. I have been working with a gentleman from mainlymarathons.com to develop a marathon series for my parks. We now have routes planned out and dates for a 4 marathon series for next May 2014. It is going to be great! Getting ready this morning to go out and run our weekly group 5k, hopefully lots of people show up. I think this afternoon I may ride the bike out to the lake I need to go out and take some pictures anyway for work, good excuse to ride the bike! Have a great day everyone! |

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Had a super freaking awesome day! Did our group run this morning got a 5k in, then had lunch and went on a 26 mile bike ride out to the lake to get some work done, Had an awesome ride averaged 17.58 mph! That is the fastest average I have done so far over a long ride! Then got to help work a rescue call at the lake and finished off with dinner with the wife! Probably pigged out too much, but its such good bbq and what the heck I figured I earned it! |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I just decided I don't need no stinkin knees. Just got home from a stellar 1 hour upper body and core workout at the gym. Between the strength work and the pool I'll smoke the other 2 when I'm back. The extra workouts really help me mentally with the fact that I'm still sidelined. I read somewhere "core work is free speed". Also thanks Bobby because I found a machine that really works the hips and glutes. That should speed up my recovery time. Hitting the hammys and calves also to balance everything out. ETA: For anyone keeping track I hit 195 today on the scale Pretty soon I'll look like Ally McBeal (please take that as a joke) Edited by Burd 2013-04-28 11:40 AM |

Awesome on all fronts Ally! I am chasing behind you at 199. I don't think I have been under 200lbs since high school. Remember that injury is an opportunity to find another cross training exercise that won't hurt the injury. |

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Alex and Bob great job on the weight loss! I keep wondering if I will get below 200, but seem to be stuck around 210. Although I have decided just to focus on exercising and not worry about weight. Charles great job on the race! Congrats! |

At least there are some positives! Have you done any cross-country skiing? Several of my local bike clubs arrange for that during the winter, as a cross-training workout. Basement water always sucks. I'd recommend going to a tile floor and area rugs - you can find them made of olefin, which can be bleached and steam-cleaned, and is basically soft and indestructible. That way, you can have them commercially cleaned if they ever get wet and moldy (or worse) and the title floor will laugh off water. Carpet in the basement basically begs for low-level mold due to moisture given off by concrete, even in a dry climate. Good luck with the repairs. |

Cynthia - Getting your 5K under 30 and then 28 should be doable with it being so early in the season. What's your PR? |
