Veteran 140 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Trisam: Yes, Let's get this party started! Cube: Thank you. I now have enough info to stalk you properly. Ha! Cool Tat by the way. I go back and forth about doing something to memorialize my first IM. Maybe a finisher's metal is enough. Transition training today and a short run. Doing a short 40/4 brick tomorrow in full race kit. Let's see if I can cut thru the wind, flatten the hills and some how gain 10mph over my training splits. I'm embarrassingly optimistic! It could happen..right? Great weekend everyone, Doc |

Regular 61 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Hey all, I hope everyone is tapering well (i.e. parking closer than usual, taking the elevator, sitting whenever possible, propping feet up, stretching daily, hydrating and eating properly, sleeping adequately). The time to train is over, now it is time to recover. I have been tapering for over a week now and am starting to get to the "feel like crap" stage of taper. Through many years of swimming and doing very specific tapers I have found that I feel like crap for the last several days going into the big race (including the day before) and am always amazed at how well I do in the race. Moral of the story: don't freak out when you start feeling crappy over the next week or so, it's normal. I hypothesize that your muscles are becoming stronger and larger than you are used to when they were broken down, so your body is trying to figure out how to use them to their potential... but that is based on nothing scientific at all. If someone hasn't already posted this video, it has been motivating me for weeks now, I can't get enough! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnqpYKx8Fvk **If profanity offends you, this may not be for you, it's cool Ironman footage played to Eminem's "Till I Collapse." |

Veteran 300 Massachusetts | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Tri Sam - 2011-08-18 9:11 PM STARBUCKS @ KCIC: RACE WEEK FRIDAY 4-4:30 (This is my understanding of what people wanted to do, and it sounds good to me). I'll wear my GU TRIATHLON T-SHIRT and will walk around uncomfortably looking for you, though I don't really know whatyou look like. I'll be looking at the backs of ladies legs for Jillian's tattoo. AND...because I don't drink coffee, I will have a confused look on my face and a stand-off-ish demeanor b/c I won't know what to order. AND I'll be nervous/excited. Sam I'm with you as a non-coffee drinker. I think I will go for a nice organic chocolate milk. They also have an insane apple fritter kind of pastry, which I'm sure is about 6000 calories. I think everyone should have to look like their avatar. Sam will need to be rocking the speedo and trying not to be thrown out because of that pesky no shirt rule. Jillian will have to arrive with her pink bike. Cube will need to cut his sleeves off. I will be sporting the big wheel, I'm just not sure how I'm going to get it through airport security |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread gobey- Good call. You won't miss me if I wear my TYR swim brief that I swim in the pool and in our lake with...and will wear at the practice swim. anyone- 2.4 mi swim this morning. P.R. for OWS w/out wetsuit, for in my lake. Specific enough? It was 1:17:52. If I have this same effort in IMLOU it will be faster due to river current and other athletes pulling me along with their wake. ...AND this was my last long swim. |

Extreme Veteran 483 San Diego | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Nice work on the TT swim Sam! I'm going for my own 2.5 race sim this eve. Hoping to go no wetsuit (maybe speedsuit?), since it looks like the ocean is heating up (current temp is posted at 68.4°). I'm hoping to be somewhere between 1:15-1:25, but it will depend on currents / chop. Five 90-minute sessions of hot yoga in the past week and I still sweat buckets every time - not sure that's going to change. I've turned off my AC in the house and have been riding around with the heater on in my truck. See you at the Starbucks with pointy helmet and HTB race kit? |

Extreme Veteran 877 Pa | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm really hating this part of taper, folks, and I'm getting very nervous about the race itself. I'm trying to stay really calm. My legs are starting to feel rested but I'm just a little sleepy tired, which a nap today may help. Anyone else just starving during taper?
So there is no pasta dinner meeting any longer? I must have missed some posts. It's at Starbucks at 4? Is this 4am?pm? I'd like to meet you folks :-) I hope everyone is resting well. |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Carrie1- All are invited to meet at Starbucks anywhere from 4:00-4:30, with the idea of meeting each other before entering the Athlete Dinner so we can sit together if desired. Having said that, some (Fred 'The Cube') for example is also meeting at Spaghetti's on Saturday. I think he has a reservation for 5:30, but you would have to confirm that with him. |

Ashleigh, I will be flying solo the whole weekend, and I too would definately like some company. I can take you to the athlete dinner Friday?
Adam
Sure thing Adam! Geesh, I'm gone for like 2 days and come back on here and there are 5 more pages! I'm so excited to meet everyone. And I've got a list of names and bib numbers. Maybe I'll give them to my husband so that you all have random people calling out your names during the race! lol I don't know about you guys but that youtube video with eminem, NOT COOL! I've never seen that now I'm scared s***less! I kinda heard that sometimes that stuff happens, but I've never seen in it real life! I'm gonna go to bed now and try to erase that from my mind. How in the world can that be motivating! I cried. Really. Other than that, taper is going ok. I had to take 2 days off due to overtime at work and my husbands birthday. That kinda bummed me out. I didn't tell my husband that it bummed me out, because that was part of my bday present to him. He requested time with me as part of his present. Guess I haven't been home much I told him 'the end is near!' Ashleigh |

Veteran 671 Harrison, Oh | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Wow ~ this thread has gotten really active! I think I've missed a bunch of stuff, too. Meeting between 4 - 4:30 pm Friday at Starbucks. Sounds good, will plan to be there! I had cortisone injections in both of my heels on Tuesday. A combo of PF/Heel Bursitis has been nagging since June. I had been ignoring it (because then it didn't exsist, right...) and it got so bad that I could barely walk. The injections helped ~ they both feel much better now! Taking it easy today. May run a little later this afternoon, may not, haven't decided yet. Starting to get things together today/tomorrow. I'm checking in on Thursday. I'm staying at the Hyatt ~ anyone else there, too? I'm so happy to be so close (my drive is about 1 & 1/2 hours)! Totally beats the 14 hour drive to IMFL last year! And escpecially the drive home Hope to see you all soon! |

Demonstrate you strength and independence, and if he is breaking because you are too strong and too independent in his mind, then show him he's darn right. If it's not, then show him what you are made of. Having said that...sorry. |

Think of the bright side... one less thing to worry about leading up to race... and then after you're done you can focus on it. But sorry to hear it |

Try to hang in there and just focus on your race, you can deal with him after...lol. Surround yourself with people during race week ~ other friends/family coming? Other BT'ers will be there, too! You've worked so hard and deserve to be fully there, both physically AND mentally Are you able to catch the BT meet up at Starbucks? |
