SSMinnow - 2011-02-06 6:01 PMLinda--either works for me, but I found for longer distance like IM wearing a bra and a cycling jersey worked best.  Allowed me to have a large pocket in the back for extra fuel and tubes.  For running races, I wear a sports bra and nothing else....
WOW, that's pretty risque!

That makes sense Suzy, for the longer distances, I thought about wearing a cycling jersey when I do an ultra, just to have the large pocket in the back.

Tony, duct tape works for everything doesn't it?

Aw man...I have to live here for the next year, too.  Not looking forward to it!  But I did win money for the first quarter score, so not a total loss for a night.

Linda - It's funny you ask this question because I've lost about 25 pounds since last May, so before, I would have told you that I always have to have a bra on.  Now that the girls have shrunk a bunch, I'm all about the shelf bra!  But I haven't had the chance to race in one yet, so we'll see.

Doug - Nice run!  Keep up the training, it sounds like it's working for you!

My team's tri top has a pocket in back... so that's the best of all worlds -- tank top, shelf bra, and pocket!! I think it's a Sugoi...

Anyone selling SRAM Shifters, derailleurs, cranks, cassettes?

If so let me know, I hate having a frame with nothing on it.

I think I am going to build my cross bike out with SRAM.  hmm will it be bad that my cross bike will end up with better components than my road bike?

Big pocket or little pocket?????  My Castelli has one that runs the length of my back which was perfect for the bike portion of IM...could hae worn it on the run, but wanted coaches colors at the finish.....

oh my goodness, I haven't been this sick in a really long time.  The last workout I've done was last Tuesday and I didn't even make it out of bed for 3 days.  Yesterday was the first time I got dressed (well, changed pajamas anyway) and made it downstairs all weekend.  Missed my 10 mile endurance run (as well as many other workouts), lost my voice, lost 5 lbs, missed the super bowl party.........but at least the Packers won!!!!

Hopefully  I am on the slow road to recovery.  I am thinking about trying a swim workout this afternoon to see where I am.  This kicked my butt!!!

Terps421 - 2011-02-06 1:45 PM Tony, I take a multivitamin with iron, Calcium, fishoil and antioxidants.  Teaching elementary kids exposes a person to a LOT of germs, just part of the job.

A question for my lady friends!  Do you race in a tri suit that has a shelf bra in it or do you wear a separate top underneath?

Linda

I have a shelf bra on my Tri Top.  PLUS - after seeing a TON of pictures of ladies wearing solid colors...and seeing the "peaks" (don't people realize that when they post their triathlon pictures, and they're just staring at you?!), so that's why my Tri Top has designs on the front (see my avatar - Last Year's Iron Girl's Finisher Photo).   None of my pictures that I posted on FB shows the "peaks"  (if you know what I mean).    That's something else to think about.  If you like your Tri Top, even if there's no designs in the front, take a dip in a cold pool/ water, and then have someone take a picture.   IF the peaks are there, wear a sports bra. :-)

I've only had one season under my belt, so what the heck do I know about Tri Tops? :-) I just know what NOT to get. LOL!

I also have pockets too on my tri top, but it's zippered.

Don't think about the workouts you lost.  It won't do any good.  Something similar happened to me a few years ago as I was marathon training and it took me about another 5 days to feel totally back to normal.  Once you get your health back to 100% you will have plenty of time to rock the workouts!

fowlmood - 2011-02-05 7:48 PM Finally had 2 good workouts and a great day watching my son in his last Wrestling match and pinned all 4 of his guys and took 1st place today.

Was up at 4:30am drove an hour to La Junta Swam 4000m with the Main set of 1500m Time Trial. Drove home watched the matches after that went on my longest run ever 13.15 the 1st 6.5 miles was pretty much up hill and against the wind, but it was the long down hill that beat my legs. Did finish strong completed it in 1:45:15 really pleased with the pace. When I got home jumped in to an ice bath for 15mins what fun.

that got my attention!  I can't imagine jumping - I ease in slowly, muttering the whole way!

That's better than me!  I refuse to ice bath...  Went through 4 years of playing college soccer, meaning 4 grueling preseason Hell weeks, and I never used one.  I'm a big sissy when it comes to cold water.  Though I did have a freezer full of ice cups!

So you guys impress me with the fact that you'll even attempt it!

One of these days I would love to take an ice bath, but WHEN do I do it? I seem to recover very quickly from a hard bike workout. Yesterday, I had my recovery drink, then sat down for a little while, then I took a nice hot bath with Epsom salts, and within an hour, my legs feels refreshed.

Swims - eh, never.

Runs - I rarely ever go HARD (I mean really hard).  So, I am hoping to get out of my comfort zone and PUSH it so I can go harder than I did last year.

Is heat a bad thing??

As am I because it means the Steelers didn't win!

Never can forgive them for paying off ref's a few years back when the Seahawks should have won the game.  Now I root for whoever is playing them (yes, yes I am bitter.) : )

Oh my gosh. I feel for you. :-(  Feel better soon!!!

I don't know if I would recommend swimming, though.   I always avoid swimming when I feel sick. If i'm getting better and on the road to recovery, I would either go for a nice easy bike ride or easy run.  I wait until I'm fully recovered to go swimming. Only because there's so many people there sharing the same pool, and the chemicals seems to make it worse (I tried that once during the end of my cold, and I got worse that day).

That's just my two cents.

Hugs

Congrats to all you Packer fans!

I know I have been a bad MGer so far, but I am in the process of updating my training log for the past 15+ days. With no plans for travel for the next few weeks, I'll be jumping back into the banter on here.

Quick question for all you veterans.. What should I wear for my first sprint? It will be in Wilmington, NC first week of April. I have been looking at Tri suit; it is a outdoor heated pool.

Thoughts?
