Great work Julia, you're a huge inspiration to everyone on the MG, you just quietly go about your training and calmly produce BQ level race results! Very modest, but very focussed!

Go Chet! You're going to do great, I'm sure you'll cope better than most with those conditions. Chet had his own MG a couple of years ago when I first joined BT, I was a member so Chet was my original mentor, it's been great learning from him and now following him while he's been training for another IM!

Finally did my race report from last weekend. I wanted to see if I got some good, bloody swim or bike photos, but they haven't been posted yet, so oh well.

Thinking of you, Chet!! I know the weather could go any which way... wind, rain, hail, sun, heat, cold... You'll be fine with whatever comes your way. Enjoy the day! It's such a beautiful venue. The run is positively gorgeous. Enjoy gazing out across that lake. I hope they play It's a Beautiful Day at your swim start -- I love that one!! Wish I were there to cheer you on!!!

Congrats Julia ....  Congrats Jayne .....  REPRESENT Chet!!

Quick bike racing update.  Currently have our team leader sitting pretty in 2nd position in the 35+ Cat 3's, only 2 points behind the leader.  In doing that, I somehow have worked my way up to 5th in the 45+ Cat 3's.  Might make for interesting strategy as the week moves on.

Legs feel heavy, had no jump yesterday at all, but the rest of the field was in the same boat all day.  27+ mph average in yesterdays race.....  here is the last lap finishing train from yesterday.  I am second wheel.  Al our leader is tucked behind me.

I know, huh?! Sorry, but I hate a dirty bike. Or, rather, I hate cleaning my bike. It's already dirty so I should have sucked it up. I am the lamest MG'er.

Dino, that is crazy fast!!! Sometimes I hit 27mph going down a hill. Holy crap! Hang in there, nice work!!!

Like Steve, I saw that wind had picked up, but the report I saw said it's nothing out of the ordinary for CDA swimming at this point, so that's all good. And I think the lake is balmy, like almost 60. LOL. So f'ing cold!! Go Chet go!!

How are those legs, Julia??

I know of at least one stud racing this weekend and it's going to be quite a show!  Anyone else ready to give it 110%?  If so, spill the details!

If you're not racing, how're you holding up so far this season?  mentally? physically?  what do you need help with?

I haven't written a race report, I am still trying to figure out what happened this morning, but it was one heck of a race.  I came out of the swim feeling fast as lightning, and was ready for the bike leg.  I think my transition was great.

Around mile 5 I crashed my bike, got a flat, and ended up with some mechanical (gear) problems.  It took me a LONG time to get it figured out, but managed to pull it together.  The best part was the 20% grade climb the last 1/4 of a mile before the bike turnaround.  I got to race a truck on the way down at 30 mph and I felt so alive!

Made it in, and managed the 4 mile trail run.  I think today was more about my mental victories than my time, and I am very pleased to have been able to finish in one piece Laughing

Congratulations to you Julia, you are a rock star, and you inspire me!

So glad you and the bike are OK... looking forward to the RR. How are you feeling this morning? Any bruises? Congratulations!

The roads were really slick in the morning, and the traffic would have been a nightmare. She made the right call!

Legs are tired, quads are sore, but nothing feels damaged. It's all good!

Seriously?  I've been trying to figure out if I'm clicking on the wrong link or something.  Anybody have any news?!?!?!  How am I supposed to justify sitting around and doing nothing if I can track Chet?

P.S.  The soleus area on both legs bothered me through the entire run yesterday and they are still really tight today.  I try to make sure I'm using good form on the bike (not toes down or anything funky like that).  Could biking in general be stressing my soleus? Could this also be contributing to the tightness in the arch of my foot?  It's not something I would consider an injury, but it is limiting what I can do.  Should I consult a doc?? I would say that this started when I started some hill training for my 1/2 marathon back in feb-mar.

Very limited time to respond, but yes and yes.  Roll the he$$ out of the area with either a PT massage ball or their small roller on the block.  You can also use your thumbs on that area and on both sides.  More later.....

I raced today.  While milling around at the finish line a guy goes down.

He had a freaking heart attack.    Heart stopped and all.  Fortunatley there was an EMT that lived in the neighborhood and had all the machinery.  They loaded ice on his chest until the EMT got his stuff, and was able to bring him back..basically saved the guy (in his early 40'S).  By last report he was doing well.

So many things to be thankful for....the guy went down at the finish line with a ton of people around, the EMT and other medial personnel were there and acted quickly, and he is doing ok.

I was bumming after the race that my legs gave out on me, but this reminded me that I need to be thankful that I am able to race and have fun doing it.

Have a great day everyone...and Go CHET!!!!!!!
