Stop trying to make the person that you think you want into the person that you're looking for.

I'm not. You don't know the situation, you don't know this guy and so the fact that I am at least going to let him know that his actions are inappropriate is not me "making him be what I want him to be". So far, I've done nothing - he's continued to act interested and has not, until the drinks on Friday, denied any invitation I've extended to him, which was all of TWO invitations since New Year's, not counting drinks on Friday. I haven't exactly been throwing myself at him. He's allowed to have been busy. But what is not allowed is to then suggest that we grab drinks the following weekend and then blow me off without an explanation. He didn't have to suggest a rain date. And he can man the eff up and tell me that he's not interested. So he's going to have the guts to tell me to my face, because I deserve at least that amount of respect.

I don't know the whole situation... so I shan't comment. Therefore I will exit stage left. However, if you DO want my opinion, as a guy in his early 20's active in the dating scene... ask and you shall receive.

No worries, I fully expect the worst. However, he is going to at least man up and tell me so to my face, because he can't be all wishy-washy. Life ain't Burger King - he can't always have it his way, and so far, it's been ALL his way.

Totally switching subjects here, but do you think it's possible to train for a century ride in mid-May? There is this fundraising ride that I want to do, and we have a choice of distances, either 25, 50 or 100 miles. It's not a "race" -  just a ride so the fact that I'm not a speed demon isn't a huge issue. 50 miles seems like too little. If I were to sign up for the century, I'd be training with other people, I believe. Thoughts? Should I just stick with the 50?

I do think 4shrt and Rynamite have made some correct points.
When it's the right relationship, it won't take months of effort to
get there. In fact, if this were truly THE relationship for you and him,
by now you'd be in that can't stop calling, texting, emailing phase;
can't wait to hang out, etc. Even someone who truly wants to "proceed
with caution" in a relationship can't deny their desire to be in such frequent
contact/communication with the person they're meant to be with/really digging.

Tri season is just around the corner. Hotties abound. Try to get your mind
off of him and move on to better/someone who treats you better .

You can do it. Your legs will on fire at the end, but it's definitely
possible. A few months after I started riding, I did a 75-miler. The
longest ride I had ever done previously was like 20. It just won't
be fast. And, charity rides are a lot of fun. I say, "Go for it!"

You can do the century in May easily. You might be a little sore/uncomfortable in the latter parts of the ride and the next few days.  Just make sure you have a decent nutrition plan, pace yourself, and keep the calories going in all day long.  Just build up your long weekend ride starting ASAP from 2 hours up to 3-5 hours.  I've done quite a few in the past and from my experience miles 60-80 usually suck the worst, but otherwise it can be pretty rewarding and fun if you have good company.

My first month with the road bike, I did 80 miles in 2 days and with clipless pedals for the first time as well. Just wondered if maybe it was a big difference. I'd really, really like to do it, and would also really like to try to fundraise the amount required for team members. If you just do the ride, you can pay $50 and ride, or you can fundraise as much as you like. But being part of the team would give me a team and a coach to train with, so I figure it's probably worth it. And it's for a good cause - at least I think the cause is good (It's for a Christian organization that is focused on youth outreach - that's where I was all weekend; volunteering at one of the camps they run.)

I recommend LOTS of chamois butter, moleskin, and if really badly off, Dr. Scholl's corn pads.  seriously. only thing that got me through 100 mile rides!

Oooh, good call. I still have to see when the team practices. If I can't make the practices, I'll just sign up and do 50 miles on my own. But this could be a really great opportunity to get my biking skills solid. I'm fine with the swim, and the running is coming along well and I can at least maintain consistent, if moderately slow, speeds. But I suck on the bike, comparably. So it'd be awesome to be able to do this.

You just need some T.I.T.S.

I have plenty of...oh, wait...not THAT kind. Yeah, I know, now that the weather is hopefully getting better and once I stop being away every single weekend, I'll be able to get out more - got out last weekend, which was good. I WISH I'd had yesterday off - yesterday was perfect, in the morning. Riding the computrainers helps too. This is one of my main reasons for wanting to do the century. If I join the team, I will have no excuse to wimp out on practices. Plus, the whole charity thing...

Taking a brief poll: if you had your choice to move to any city in the country, where would you go and why?

I'm vaguely considering relocating - not any time soon, as I've registered for Reston in September and just got a promotion, but am just curious. After the Matt fiasco, there's just too much baggage here in DC and I kinda feel like I need just go elsewhere.

Seriously?  baggage?  this is a big metro area, there are lots of boys men to occupy your time.   I'm pretty flexible as to where I would live...my profession involves the water so being close to the ocean is pretty important.  The Carolinas seem nice, winter is a piece of cake there, it can get pretty nasty hot in the summer but not much worse than DC, the mountains are pretty closeby, and the BBQ is to die for.  The west coast is always worthy of mention.  Cali seems to be too expensive or too crowded in terms of the cities for my taste.  Portland seems pretty cool.  I could trade mountains for ocean, too, so I'd consider Colorado but it'd have to be in a banana belt where it doesn't snow a $hit ton.
