CLOSED ponderingfox - 2013-03-05 7:09 PM jobaxas - 2013-03-05 9:47 PM Macca said Pete Jacobs is also a 'lazy' triathlete - said tongue in cheek they are good friends. PJ only trains about 12 hours a week for IM. That is not much. His idea last year wa he only had to increase his speed by 1% to take out the title. And that's what he did. He also does an insane amount of racing - compared to the old school crew like Macca who would do maybe 2 a year. And he walks the aid stations, my hero. He was saying that he overtrains very easy. It's funny for Macca to say that. I seem to remember him scolding people for overtraining in his book. Q for you all. Should Macca race Kona again? Poll time! Have to end the Quote Block... But I'll continue the conversation here, in this related one... I didn't know you were talking about Kona... I'm talking about pure running races.. I can't imagine walking through the aid stations at them. The fact I run through them gives me an edge over exactly no one, since the guys that I am passing at the aid stations are probably not racing me, like I am racing them... LMAO... Like I said though, I am there to crush their souls... I want my non-competition to remember that they were passed by "Speedy" I wear this shirt to every race...also, notice the belt! RESPECT THE BELT!! and No, Macca should not pull a Brett Favre.. Edited by Muskrat37 2013-03-05 9:33 PM |

It's funny for Macca to say that. I seem to remember him scolding people for overtraining in his book. Q for you all. Should Macca race Kona again? Poll time! Course he should...that's why he's currently searching for a race to get points as he had a miserable weekend in Abu Dhabi (broken hand and broken bike separate incidents) It's looking like IM australia so far, in Port Mac. He wants to be the 'fastest' 40 year old, not necessarily at Kona I think at Cairns.... If you want some fun listen to the Macca podcasts - truly funny and I seem to get mentioned a lot..... Macca has recognised he cannot put in the training hours at his age - he cannot out train the competition but he can train smarter - different intensities etc. Oh slight obsession with Macca... It was Su-paaaah Sa-Weeeeet! Very enjoyable first ride. I don't clip in yet, so I didn't have to be nervous about that aspect. I just cruised a big loop a few times to get used to shifting/turning/stops and a little traffic. |

Sadly, though, he is a dedicated family man--not quite so much as Crowie, perhaps, but pretty close. However ... I think I need you to work your wily charms with Macca. I know--it's a big sacrifice and I hope you shall simply shut your eyes and phase it all out, but if there's any way we can get me into IM Cairns, I want to go. I'm an old hand at, uh, by any means necessary. Y'know, like ... charity. |

I know a couple of people on the Australian Olympic Committee as well whom I'll get in touch with (they do a lot for Indo-Oz cross cultural sports stuff as well). Oh, and one of the bigwigs on the Oz Masters Sports Council (or whatever its official name is. Basically, masters athletes). The main thing I need to know on your end is whether a spot is even possible, for a "special" case. |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Back to the music question... I have to go with the "everything" group, but mostly classic everything. Love classic rock, it's my coming of age music, Journey, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, G&R, Eagles, Chicago, Ozzy ... Love classic country too, Reba, George, Randy, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn... I like some of the modern stuff, Don't care for Miranda Lambert but her husband is hawt, Josh Turner can sing to me anytime, Brad Paisley I like when he actually sings, don't care for his comedic songs, Keith Urban, yum I also love jazz: Maynard Ferguson, Joss Stone and of course Glenn Miller, musicals: Phantom of the Opera (fave), Joseph and the Amazing..., Cats, Les Mis My car radio is usually on a Christian alternative rock station. They play Anberlin, Switchfoot, Abandon Kansas, POD, Family Force 5, Flynn Adams I do hip/hop/rap and heavy metal/hard rock too. People make fun of me because when my Ipod is on shuffle it can go from Phantom to Metalica to Philip Phillips. I was a band geek in jr high/high school and a music major in college until I figured out I'd need a real job. Love to sing. |
