Subject: Tri Saddle - Butt going Numb !
I currently have a Profile Design Tri-Stryke CroMoly Saddle and it seemed fine for the 30 min rides, but now I'm trying to get my up to 1 - 1.5 hours a session and my *** bone is going numb ( well the area between _____ and the _____ - trying to keep this a PG13 conversation. This Saddle seemed very comfortable when I first rode on it, but now I'm getting the wiggle factor.

Suggestions on a new Saddle ? Anyone else own this saddle and have positive or negitive feedback ?

I may go today and try a new saddle, but was curious if anyone else has this issue.

PS - I was fitted for my Bike for optimal position.

Are you going from a road bike to a tri bike? I have heard and read several places that is a common. Being in aero position on a tri bike applies pressure to different points, than a road bike. The more aggressive postion, the harder it can be on your body. How long have you been riding on this new saddle? I hear that will stop as your body gets used to the new postion; however, I could be incorrect.

Adamo Race saddle.

There are some threads here on this saddle specifically.

Adamo Race saddle.

X2. I got the Adamo and did my first race on it two weeks ago. My mind never said "man, I need to move around on this seat, this is uncomfortable" for the first time in two years on the bike. Your sit bones will be sore after the first couple of rides, and then it's bliss.

Mine just got here yesterday. It felt good on a short trainer ride last night, but I was still a little tender from the 12 mile ride home from the gym to really tell. I'll have more to say after 42 miles of BikeNY this Sunday.

It is weird looking, though. My wife told me it looks like I'm sitting on a salmon steak.

Salmon Steak - LOL

I'm going from a S32 to a B-12, so yes a new riding position. Maybe it will get better in time, but man that's a weird feeling having that section of your body go numb.

It seems the the Cut-away with vents for is designed for comfort and easiermoisture, but it seems the cut-away section is where is hurts the most.

Anyone else try the Profile Design Tri-Stryke CroMoly Saddle ?

Adamo ... there should be a friggin sticky for this because it is quite frankly THE answer for the 'my junk is going numb' question   I loves mine ... yes your sit bones will pay the price initially, but like anything you will get used to it and being able to feel your junk after a long ride is priceless.

I had the Tri-Stryke saddle as well.. first few rides no problem.. started getting into the 30-40 mile range and I got the dreaded 'novacaine package syndrome'.

Switched to the Adamo Racing saddle...problem solved.

Is there any difference between the Adamo Road and the Racing saddle, other than the road is a few grams heavier?

Livestrong - Well Said 'novacaine package syndrome'

Sounds like a negative vote for the Profile Design Tri-Stryke CroMoly Saddle.

As another option, consider the Selle SMP - not to be confused with Selle Italia - two different companies. These are incredibly comfortable, and if you have a ridiculous amount of money available they have a full carbon model.

check out the specalized toupe if you ride on the saddle (i rode one size smaller than i did with my road bike), or the fizik arione tri (or one of the ones in the lineup). the fizik's are amazing no matter where you sit on the saddle, are very comfortable, and as they break in they form to fit your rear.

i have rode on mine multiple times over 4 hours with no issues at all

I have the same saddle and not only did I have a problem going numb, I also had a problem getting rubbed raw. (I am riding a road bike with aero bars.) The Tri-Stryke was the 3rd saddle I tried and although it was better than the other two I still had problems. I went to a local bike shop to check my fit and was told everything looked good. I finally paid more money for a more professional fit and found that my bike was set up fine, but that my cheap aero bars were the problem. I went to the Profile Design T2+ aero bars which allowed me to move the arm pads closer to my elbows and the numbness and rubbing have ceased. I did want to try the Adamo race saddle, but just couldn't justify spending that much money to try one out.

I jumped on the thread about the Adamo saddle and it seems like this is the direction for me.

Thanks for your feedback......

I've never tried the Adamo saddle, but a friend of mine just bought one and doesn't like it because the nose is very wide and rubs on his inner thighs.

When I ride in the aero position I always use my tri shorts and not my bike shorts, even for 5-6 hour rides. The bike shorts put pressure there where you don't want it due to the thick padding. And I was surprised that the tri-shorts are fine for me.
I use a lightweight mountain bike saddle on my tri bike: Selle Italia SLR XC. After buying one for my mountain bike I quickly went back to the store and bought a second one for the tri bike!

Do him a favour and tell him to move the saddle back and sit more to the front of the saddle - when properly set up, there shouldn't be any saddle between his inner thighs
