*gripe on* The replacement refs must have rubbed off their dumbness and disregard of proper rulings/calls to the official refs.

So, now that New Orleans' "Bountygate" is over, I'm wondering if their offense is paying off the refs under the table or have snuck in a contract negotiation to overlook pushing off to catch a TD or allowing a catch to stand when control is not established, even when the replay clearly establishes the obvious infraction?? *gripe off*

Sheesh - face mask to the QB now?

*waiting for Bear's slam*

F.Y.I. - I like Bear.  I USED to like the New Orleans Saints, but they're looking like a "cheapshot" team more and more lately.  If you can't win with talent and playing, at least, a semi-clean game, then (*&$%#*&&&(&&^ and %%@)_@)(*#()$!!

You seriously think that face mask was intentional? And that officiating that doesn't go your way has to have been paid off?

Sounds an awful lot like grade-school sour-grapes whining to me. Really expect more than that from you Phil.

Wouldn't worry though, the Saints will find a way to blow it.

Damn cheating refs! Taking our winning points off the board with that bogus penalty. Home cooking if I ever saw it.

Told you the Saints would find a way to blow it. You can save your self-absorbed whining for another day.

The second half was a BETTER Saints game regarding how I have seen them play. They played well-executed routes finding HUGE openings for big gains, had a very tough front line, and made it hard for the Packers to move the ball when they were on defense. A MUCH cleaner game. I like that. The holding call on the field goal WAS legit on the field goal for the win, and it's too bad it happened. Seriously.Overall for the refs, they need to step up their game to get whatever the he11 they got negotiated.BTW, you can probably tell All the GB players and fans that they are all self-absorbed, too.

As far as the real refs back, just wondering which real refs everyone was so glad to get back. Yes the game is under control more but there were PLENTY of reasons to be concerned before.

What in the world would you expect from the Saints when 1) you have a bounty system in place, and even worse 2) you let my Redskins beat you to start the season. Before the season I said the Saints may go 0-16. It's wishful thinking but I can still hope.

I'll simply say the New Orleans - Green Bay game was as poorly officiated as the worst of the games officiated by the replacements. But I already kind of expected that from a Jeff Triplette crew.

I agree.

The replacements were doomed to fail because they were guilty in the court of public opinion before the first game. They really didn't do THAT bad of a job given the circumstances, especially compared to the "real" refs.

Before we get too worked up on the differences between the Replacement Refs v Union Refs, let's recall that the level of officiating has been in decline for several years now. There are blown calls all over the place, not just in the Packers/Saints game. Just as there have been blown calls in past seasons. The poor officiating has taken center stage because of the Replacements but the regular refs are just as prone to mistakes. The difference is the level of training the two groups got.

I am a Packer 'fan' (baseball junkie here) and yeah they got hosed on the fumble but that happens in a fast paced game. Easy for us watching the boob tube with multiple angle slo-mos and reverse action sequences to see what really happens and second guess the call on the field (this one was not reviewable I think). But the actions of the refs in the previous 3 games has made us scrutinize officiating even more.

Overall, the league needs to step up the quality of officiating overall. Whether through more training or more advanced replay something needs to be done. In the end though, thank heavens this is not real life, just a GAME.

What I found interesting was the way the calls were talked about by the sportscasters. They sound like they are in the tank for the "real refs".

Perception is the new reality.

Hey Phil did Wisconsin lose because of the refs too? Or did they just get their butts handed to them up and down the field in the second half of that game?

I'm saying the latter, dear 2Goggs.  Da' Badgers done got beaten by a team that decided to actually play better in the 2nd half.  No qualms 'bout dat.
