Hey, all.  Almost through the week and we've had our first real bout of Fall weather...mid-50s and windy as the high and starting to get frost at night in the higher elevations north of here.  Winter's coming...ugh.  Great running weather, though, as Gretchen noted.  Unfortunately I'm still not there with my ankle and foot - progressing for sure, just slower than I've ever recovered from an ankle injury before.  There are a couple of spots that react badly (as in, hurt like hell) when I land, push, or twist just a little off.  It's stable and doesn't bother me walking, but is still weak going down stairs and I'm up to about 12 minutes of running at E pace with like a 1.5/10 on the pain meter (like I feel it, maybe a little achy, but nothing bad other than the once a day reaction noted above).  Glad I'm in my off-season, and I'm doing great on the strength training, yoga, PT, etc.  I'm wondering now how many body parts is too many to PT at once.

Intervals with the running club last night and the Achilles feels great today.

I have committed to going to mtb interval training tonight with the bike club even though it means I am going to miss most of the hockey game.
The Lakers have had a difficult start to the season, tonight's game is away against the current leader and we have at least 5 players missing. So there's a good chance we'll get trashed so I won't be sorry to have missed it. The weather is nice, must make the most of it, as others have said

It was fun, we rode through the forest in the dark (lights on bikes of course) to a nearby technical mtb trail. My light stopped functioning half way through it, and it was pitch dark. Took my telephone out and finished the lap. Then we did 3 laps of a lit trail so I could see.
No problems with the ride home as I was surrounded by people with functioning lights

Home in time to see the 3rd period and the OT. We got one point, which considering the above is a good result. Coach was happy with the performance.

Gah!! Mountain biking with no light or one hand holding your phone?!? Tough decision!

My headlamp went out the other day on my am run and it was DARK out there. I also had to use my phone, which was probably a bit safer than if I had been riding! Awkward to hold it though.

Nice!  I like fall when the weather is like this, for sure.  40 degrees this morning, 73 by 2 PM...love those temperature swings.  My daughter is running the Baltimore half marathon this morning so it'll be a little warm (they don't start until like 10 AM) but not too bad.

I had a good low-key training week (not much SBR, but plenty of strength training), and made sure Fat Thor got his due with a meat pizza and three IPAs on Thursday night.  Still got up on Friday morning and in the pool before 6 AM.

Hope everyone has or is having a great weekend!

@Robert and Nicole:  where y'all at???  Hopefully I won't have to drag myself to Masters to find you!

Quick 30’ run this morning. It was chilly! 38F when I left, so long pants, long sleeves, hat, and gloves. Quickly realized pretty much all of that was an over reaction and I should have just worn shorts and a t-shirt. I’m terrible at dressing for cold runs. That was at about 8. Then at 10 I did masters for 3500yds. At 11:30 I raced home because the dogs were alone at home for the first time. They did well…no torn up stuff…but then, it was only 20’ tops.

How did it go for Mini Mike in the half?

Had a great day yesterday. Floorball in the morning (aka flexibility training). Not sure which team won but my young colleague scored less goals than I made saves from his shots so I win

Then I volunteered at the town’s marathon which is organised by my running club. 4 hours stopping traffic to let runners pass. Quite fun I must say. They ran 8 laps so we saw many runners pass several times and got to “know” them. I worked the second shift which started 2 hours after start so only saw the fast ones once but these are too into it to be fun anyway. The BOP people were much more fun and appreciative of our encouragements, jokes, dances….

Then home to watch hockey on TV. It was a home game but the man didn’t want to go so he cooked a nice meal to make me come home instead of going to the Arena. He knows how to handle Fat Nat.
We won despite a lot of missing players still. Happy days.

Today, a nice ride on my mtb is on the menu, have a nice Sunday (what’s left of it Andrew)

Mini-me had a great race yesterday...2:13:30 or so and negative split, including just over an hour for the last 10K so she's thrilled.  At least someone around here knows how to navigate a run race without hurting themselves.

Spent part of the weekend cleaning and re-arranging the Pain Cave so we can get Mini-me's bike in there, too.  So that will be a treadmill, three bikes, and assorted TVs, fans, dumbbells, straps, and a step platform.  It's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle getting it all together which we'll finish up next weekend.  Will post pics once we get it all sorted.

Off to Williamsburg for a little R&R and golf, plus I have to work a couple of days.
