Kona slot for M40-44 at E-Man goes up for grabs..

The awards and slot allocation which happens a few hours, or many hours, after the race. The last one rolled to 12th and when no one took it, they offered it up to ANY M40-44 who was still there.

Wow, that's awesome.  I hope someone took it and has a great time in Kona.

Holy crap, PennState was 9th in the AG. He QUALIFIED for Kona today!

About a half dozen people I race with were there today.  I should have raced too!  I'm M40-44.

I don't know if he would have taken it or not, he's always been very vocal about qualifying at an IM, but that is a legit qualifying perfromance IMO.

Yep pretty damn solid race with a tough and/or long swim and some serious heat to deal with. Go Go Fred.

That's too bad he wasn't there.

It certainly is...9th out of more than 300.  If that isn't a Kona-worthy race, I don't know what is.

He did a great job out there,  75th overall (including pro's) and 9th in the AG, if he doesn't get to Kona this time, it will not be a long wait for him.

He DID get to Kona today, just wasn't there to accept it. Maybe he would have taken it, maybe not, but he is THAT kind of athlete.

Just read a report about the conditions, makes his performance that much more impressive

Fred, I have to give you serious props for putting out a ridiculous race in that heat (and a 1:36 run split, unbelievable).  I was good until the run, my legs felt fine but the sun was sapping the life out of me.

Were the buoys drifting on the swim?  I was in the last AG wave and I felt like we were swimming a triangle instead of a rectangle.
