Got some questions about the MCAT. How hard was it and how did you prep? Love to hear your story. Many thanks in advance.

I did 2 weeks of  Kaplan - full time - I had not yet done  my premed requirements and did not want to wait to apply.

this was back in 1991 - so Kaplan was all tapes and written exams....

I got into Yale (where I went) Cornell, Columbia, NYU, Johns Hopkins

rejected at: Harvard, Stanford, UCSF

Med student here, in my first year.  Yeah it was hard but not too bad, be sure to start studying early for it and you'll be fine

I was a biology major and a chemistry minor.  I did not study specifically for the test.  Good luck.  Go in well rested.

I took the MCAT back in '99.  I prepped all summer.  I did really well on the bio portion, decent on the physical sciences, and poor on the english (me is an engineer).  After I was done, I felt like my brain had been raped.

I never did, but my husband took the MCAT 10 years ago. Here are some thoughts from him:

First, you should know it is like any other standardized test. In other words, how you perform on other standardized tests will be a good prediction of how you will do on the MCAT. I did one of the prep courses (I think it was Kaplan) and ended up with a 35 (12, 12, 11). I was accepted to my first choice of medical schools with this score. I think the benefit of the prep was to eliminate any errors one might make based on confusion/difficulty with the format, rather than the actual knowledge.

I hope this is of help. Good luck!
