As someone that lives in the city i've been gotten accustomed to buying everything i need inperson - and i'm a generation x-er so i need everything NOW, overnight shipping isn't good enough

I'm an REI fan and i just picked up a couple 'outfits' (its hard for me to use that work because i'm not a girly girly) they have zoots and danskin on sale right now.  I heard that the Chestnut Hill City Sports is that franchises 'tri' headquarters.  I haven't been in the area so i don't know for sure.

i look forward to other posts because i've been wondering myself!

I buy most of my tri clothes on line. Many shops carry limited brands and sizes or colors. I like certain things and find on-line I can get better prices.

Fast Splits is great shop and the new Quad Sports in Arlington is a good place to try.

Depends on what you are looking for.

FAST SPLITS (but I am biased )

Another vote for REI.  Once you get a hang of what sizes you're looking for, then you can shop online.

REI and the City Sports in downtown crossing have pretty good selections and that's where I've gotten most of my stuff

Sometimes you can buy stuff at race expos for less than you would pay online (no shipping) and less than the local tri stores.  The caveat is that the stuff at the expos is usually last years line.  Since I've never been very fashion conscious ( and a cheap SOB as well)  it doesn't really matter to me!

I took a trip to Fast Splits yesterday, and they were awesome.  One the guys there even offered to help put aero bars on my bike next week.  And I met Jorge, so it was a pretty full day.  I highly recommend going there.

I went to the Chestnut Hill city sports last night, limited selection in tri stuff there (but not to crap on your post... they do have more than the other city sports). Tri clothing, they only carry Zoot, they carry more colors and selection in female than they do in male.

Took it a trip to Quad multisports in Arlington as well, they have a very nice selection of other types of tri clothing, still lots of zoot, however, no 2XU which I think IMHO that 2XU is a staple of tri clothing....

Best place I went was probably Ace wheelworks in Belmont. They carried 2XU, pearl izumi and zoot tops and bottoms.

A word of caution though, if you choose to visit Quad multisports in arlington or fast splits in newton, I would go on a weekday....i visited both on the weekend and the nice people at both stores told me their selectino of just about everything was limited because alot of it is out at expos and competitions (something that doesn't happen as often during the week). Regardless, they all still had a nice selection:

So as a summary of what I saw as of 6/20/09 in terms of tri tops and bottoms

City sports in chestnut hill: Limited Zoot stuff
Quad Multisports in arlington: Mostly zoot, but much much more than city sports, and assorted others
Ace wheelworks: pearl izumi, 2xu and zoot
Fast Splits: 2xu and zoot

Happy shoppin everybody!
