Wow, glad to hear you are ok for the most part!!

I guess if you have to DNF, it is best to have a good story behind it.  But I know how hard you worked to get to the start line.

Wow, I am sorry to hear of your crash.  I think you are a lucky man to walk away with so few injuries.  Heal well and fast.

Sorry to hear about your crash, glad you are ok. Just a thought, but if you have your helmet still you should call the company that made it and see if they would want it. I have read that some companies will take them and use them to see if it "handled" the crash correctly.

I've heard this before as well.  Worst thing is it was less than a month old..

Wow.  My external injuries are nothing compared to that.  Because I hit the truck and stopped I never got any major road rash (just a little on my elbow and ankle).  Lots of brusing on my butt and neck but nothing to really show.  Mine are mostly in my skull (which my wife contends was that way before the wreck)

How did you wreck?

Here is my helmet.  Pic does not do it justice however.  The foam is cracked clean thru in 4 places.  And the entire thing is twisted a few degrees.  I did find Giro has a replacement program if you send back the old helmet they give you a discount on a new one.

Just looking at that helmet and you can tell you were in a serious wreck.  Helmets are designed to shatter, so your skull doesn't...that is some severe damage!
I was going down hill 42mph in aerobars, moved to the left to pass two slower riders and a ??????guy was coming up behind me and we crossed tires and I got tossed across the pavement and sl????ammed into an aid station table fileting two of my quad muscles.  Ended up getting life flighted with ?all the blood loss.  Worst part was having my head strapped down to the backboard, hurt the back of my head so bad, but as you said, they won't let you move!

Wow.  That is a serious wreck.  So glad you are OK.  Geezee...

Yeah what's up with that neck brace thing.  Felt like a rock was sticking in the back of my head.  And you can't move it!!!!
