If you can't afford $1000 for a race, you can't afford $750... If you can afford $750, you can afford $1000.... Does it really matter?
For most of us, the cost of the registration is just one of many expenses to consider... In my own case, even though the actual race registration will certainly be higher for NYC than other races, travel and lodging will be significantly less than for other races. NYC is a short drive from my home, and we have family just outside the city. I could see maybe spending the night before the race in a hotel near the race site if I do decide to register, but the total cost would still likely be less than travel and several days lodging near a different race.... I'm not entirely crazy about the course and some of the logistical issues (start, transition, and finish in different locations, etc... ), but overall I think it might be an easier, and probably less expensive in terms of total costs, option for me than some other races....
Still on the fence, though......
