Well .... not only have I had the pleasure of sharing a lane at swim practice with Ms. Beard but also had the pleasure of sharing the showers with her afterwards.  So HA!

the thread can end right here as far as I'm concerned

I've heard no mention of US Soccer Player Brandy Chastain who took off her shirt and then eventually posed nude in "Gear" vs Playboy or other athletes who have chosen to show their goods. It's not a big deal.

SweetK, I was totally offended by Brandy Chastain's posing nude. Moral issue? Heck no, boy is she a dawg! Somebody mentioned Montreal's Club Super-Sex, a high-class strip joint that I had the good fortune to visit in November of 1992. If Brandy was dancing there I'd throw money at her to put her clothes back on. That's right. However, that night me and my fellow freshmen classmates on a road trip from Binghamton, NY had a conversation with one of the dancers who just happened to be a smoking hot French-Canadian girl named Katia. It was all so surreal as it was my 1st trip to a strip club. We're totally loaded and having a great conversation with her as she's bending over in front of us showing us everything. A part of me felt bad for her at first, but as I realized how much money she was pulling in, and how she explained she was a student getting through school, I thought she was pretty smart. At that age (and for the next 5 summers or so) I was pulling in $5 to $6 an hour. Smart chick. I just hope she realized that kind of life doesn't last too long. Old strippers don't pull in the same dough as the young, firm chicks.

Like I said before, think whatever you want. Your thoughts are yours and yours alone. Let your actions be the representation of you. Don't ever let anyone make you feel guilty about your imagination.

DonTracy mentioned that it's up to the individual to override the impulses from within. I totally agree. (actually, being new to this training world, I have to admit, I'm sometimes too tired for certain nighttime activities) So, in a way, I think it's easier for triathletes to behave themselves! Seriously, it's alright to tell yourself, "wow that was hot," or "damn, that would be nice to have!," you just have to do the right thing.

On a side note, I must note that I'm not a big fan of Playboy or most print "porn." Airbrushed bodies look a lot like mannequins and the fake breast look is a nightmare....to me that is. Just my 2 cents.

If you had mentioned, sharing a bed, I was going to faint.

SweetK - 2007-05-02 8:59 PM  I don't understand what the big deal is...I don't think the fact that she is posing nude in Playboy degrades women at all but rather empowers them.

It may have something to do with American's puritanical views about nudity.

I think the only reason we should wear clothes is keep warm when it's cold out

Does anyone else want to invite SweetK over to their place and crank up the heat, or turn down the A/C depending on what season it is or where you live?

phoenixazul - 2007-05-03 12:18 PM I really feel that women are damned if we do and damned if we don't. Notice that far more men have weighed in on this thread than women. Women can't win. If we're not sexy, we're plain, frumpy, boring. If we're sexy, then we're exciting and attractive...but we're also dirty little sluts that you "can't take home to mom" (don't get me started on the "woman as property" rhetoric).

If we're successful, like say, Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton, than we're constantly criticized even more sharply than men. Notice that there aren't pages and pages about how GDub's hair may influence other men to do the quasi-comb over. The fact that men (and women) would rather sit around and discuss their APPEARANCE rather than their jobs, policies, or accomplishments, says something. This, coupled with a newly engrained fear of being labeled a feminist (oh no! I'm a feminazi! oh no! no one will love me!), is causing an identity crisis. I should know. I'm 22 damn years old, and I'm constantly bombarded with messages that tell me I should be this submissive little housewife and pop out a couple of kids, and then told that I can reach for the stars and become a professional. When people ask why I'm going to Scotland for grad school and not bringing my fiance or staying home, I'm constantly told, "but what will you do without him?!"...um...study? Get a job? get my degree? see the world? So basically...lay off the women. Lay off the moralizing. Women are NOT THE SOLE HOLDERS AND KEEPERS OF MORALITY. WE ARE NOT ARCS OF PURITY. WE ARE HUMANS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, WE'VE GOT THE SAME DAMN PROBLEMS, DOWNFALLS, TEMPTATIONS AND URGES AS EVERYONE ELSE. It really really really pi$$es me off to see the expectations that women be asexual until she's got a ring on her finger, yet men are not held to the same standard. That, my friends, is a double standard. Your daughters are no different than your sons.

My young friend, you speak the truth.

We've been doing long distance for four years. I've been living in Ohio for my undergrad, spent time abroad in Northern Ireland. We've never had a fight. We are the couple to make it. I've had millions of disparaging comments since we got engaged...which SUCKS. Can't I get a single supportive comment? Anyone?

Don's response to you made me go and read your posts (this thread has gone on too long for me to follow it). I am glad I did. Your comments about women in society are spot on, and I can only hope that my daughter has the critical skills you do when she is 22.

Regarding your relationship, follow your heart, it's the only way to find happiness. Everything else is noise.

SweetK - 2007-05-04 10:15 AM It's interesting that nudity only matters if the woman is considered attractive?

It doesn't.  It's just that they're the ones who get the publicity.
