Subject: Atlanta pool/ track
I will be in Atlanta this weekend and I need a pool to swim at and a track to run at on Friday. I am staying at the OMNI CNN and the Crown Plaza in Marietta, so somewhere close to one of those place would be best. Can anyone recommend something??? Thnaks in advance. I am also looking for a 14 mile run Sunday morning if anyone knows of a good route close to the Crown Plaza.

There is an LA Fitness at Atlantic Station with a pool.  You could see about a guest pass.

Your nearest track might be Grady High School next to Piedmont Park.

As far as long runs...Atlanta is yours.  You could go straight up Peachtree for 7 miles and turn back around.  That would be your easiest bet.

The Silver Comet Trail would also be a good place to run...it would be closer to the Crown Plaza.  It runs from west Atlanta to Alabama and is popular with runners and cyclists.

Georgia Tech is limits the use of the Campus Recreation Center to students, faculty and alumni.   Faculty, parttime students, and alumni pay a membership fee to use the facility.  Full-time students' activity fee includes membership.  You may go to the CRC as a guest of a member.  Sadly, I won't be in town this weekend to escort you.  It is a first class facility.

I run in Piedmont Park across 10th St from Grady High School.  It is always interesting.  The outermost loop is a little less than 2 miles.

If you stay at the Four Seasons instead of the Omni, they have an indoor 20 yd pool.   It is decorated in a Roman bath motif.  Staying there makes you feel decadent, like you should be burning Rome and playing the fiddle or something.

Have fun.  Atlanta is a great place to go out to eat.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Looks like I will not have a problem finding somewhere to get in my workouts. We are looking forward to visiting the city, got a nice dinner planned and a hockey game.
