I did manage to successfully record the Kona IM and I am glad I did.  What an inspiring triathlon that was.  I especially liked the way the producers highlighted, not only the pro athletes, but the common participants whose only ofjective was to complete the event.  I am not very good at remembering names and numbers but I remember the mother who was participating to raise money and awareness of some "whatever" disease her children were suffering from (no sarcasm intended, I just don't remember which one.).  I must admint that my eyes got a bit misty when the young lady with one leg failed to meet the time deadline to go on to the run portion of the tri; my heart goes out to her and I only hope that she tries it again next year.  And, of course, that poor guy whose back wheel was totally destroyed in an accident with a motorcycle?  What the heck was that all about; could they not give him another wheel?  Anyways, this guy is truly inspirational and deserves a medal for his performance.

Here's a good article on Chris Sadowski. His frame was cracked so he couldn't put a new wheel on it anyway. The guy is a stud! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/custom/rush/orl-sptorironman2...

I also got misty eyed with the mother of the kids' with cystic fibrosis.  They all crossed the finish line together, and I reached for the Kleenex box!!

I was thrilled that the guy with the broken bike finished.  Bless his heart, he must still have blisters on his feet from the 7 mile walk in socks.

Does anyone know if he, the guy with the busted wheel, is the triathlete who received a new bike from Specialized?  I noticed that the bike he rode was a Giant, so I guess that Specialized capitalized on that to get a bit of publicity, although I must admit that, if this is the guy indeed, it was a nice thing to do.

Same guy, but it was Cannondale that gave him the bike. Chris posts on slowtwitch, so do a search for his last name there. There's a handful of threads regarding this there - with the words right from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Madcow knows Sarah, so he might be able to answer your questions about her. What amazes me with her, is that if she has that little use of her left leg, that 112 miles has got to be close to (if not exaclty like) doing a one-leg drill. I can't stand to do that for more than a couple of minutes, let alone 112 miles.

Chris Sadowski received a Cannondale bike to compensate him for his broken Giant bike and ironically he lives in Winter Park, FL which is about 10-15 min. from me! Quite the local celebrity now!
