Subject: for the ladies regarding swim to sports bra?
Ok...I'm on my second Tri this year...which is great!!
My first Tri, I pretty much soaked up all the information I could gather and "made it work". Well, this year, I want to be a bit more serious.

So, what does one wear to protect your boobs???

I'm bigger chested and I have a nice swimsuit I use for the swim but I don't feel like changing into a sports bra over it or under it as I go into my bike then run??
There's got to be a solution to this or suggestions at least.
HELP

Tri suit w/ good sports bra underneath.  No changing involved.

Trisuit...wow, then I feel like I'm entering a world that I don't necessary belong??
You can go and just try these bad-boys on??

P.S. Love the quote "save a bike, ride a triathlete" !!

You might also want to try a competitive two piece swim top as a sports bra and wear it the whole time. I just wear mine under my swim suit for the extra support and have biked and ran with the same under my biking and running or tri-top. My first race resulted in a serious chaffing issue, and this remedy has done the trick for me. Something similar to this has worked well: http://www.speedousa.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/categ... If you get the boring solid ones without the fancy colors they aren't even all that expensive.

It sounds like the best option for you would be to wear a sports bra underneath whatever you are going to swim in.  A tri top is really easy because you won't have to swim.  When looking for a sports bra, try to find one that will dry quickly.  I use a C9 sports bra from Target.  There have been many other good suggestions on the forums.  I don't remember them all, but I'm sure you could find them if you search.

Im big - 36DD and I go with Moving Comfort Fiona bra under my wetsuit or alone with tri shorts then just pull on a top to ride and run. Dries fast and super supportive for the girls.

Yes, you can...I use the tri-top, tri-short combo vs the one piece trisuit (easier for potty stops).  And I second the Moving Comfort Fiona...great sports bra...it's what I wear.

Hmmm...I'm definitely going to search around this weekend!

The TRI top/short combo sounds less intimidating plus...i never thought about the potty benefits!

I swim with a sports bra and tri shorts under my wetsuit, and then throw a top over for the bike. That is the cheapest and simplest method...

For a larger bust woman, I suggest a two piece tri suit as they require no extra effort to get in or out of. The one piece isn't the easiest piece of clothing that I own. It took me three tries to get it on properly.
Another suggestion is getting a tri swimsuit and wearing shorts. I have a Danskin tri swimsuit that offers more support than any other swimsuit that I own.

maggyruth - 2008-02-15 12:49 PM Tri suit w/ good sports bra underneath.  No changing involved.

Ditto. Or find a tri-suit that has a built-in sports bra - I have a Zoot that does. Zoot also makes quick-drying sports bras, I believe. (Not a shill for Zoot - just saw them when I was shopping for the tri-suit).

I use a 2 piece tri suit with built in support. It definitely isn't intimidating to wear as the top is like a vest top that covers all the way down to the tri shorts.  OK I admit I don't like my thighs bulging out in the tri shorts so sometimes in the bike run transition I put a running skirt on top.   I know some people wear sports bra's under tri top either for extra support or because many tri tops haven't got built in support. I am lucky(?) enough to have small boobs so don't need extra support.

Tri stuff can get expensive. In my second season my mum bought me the tri suit for my birthday and I still use it 2 years later.

I wear a tri sports bra underneatha one piece tri suit. It lets me do the whle triathlon without changing, but if I get hot I can unzip, or even take off the upper portion ofthe tri suit, keeing it zipped enough to cover my tummy if I'm self coscious about it.

I swim in a Zoot quick dry sports bra and tri shorts. Then in T1 I pull on a cycling tank top and finish the race like that.

I am also fairly well-endowed. I wear a adidas non-cotton sports bra under my swim suit and at T1, I throw on bike shorts and a sleeveless jersey. I dry out by the run in time to get sweaty and wet again. I don't have to change anything and the bra dries quickly.

I had to check twice because you and the OP's names were so similar and post count, too!

Yes, if you're fairly well-endowed, the two-pieces (which you don't want, me neither! ) won't work, nor are the built-in bras on tri suits supportive enough. You'll need to wear a sports bra UNDER the tri suit or your bathing suit during the swim.

Tri suits are the way to go, and you can get them pretty cheap if you look around (ask for suggestions if need be). You can get them one-piece or two-piece with a long top (they're more like tight cycling jerseys). And they can be swum in.
