Subject: oh the chafe! anti-chafe gel ?
starting to notice that when i go from the pool to my cycling clothes that after my ride and run that my under arms and inner thighs are pretty raw afterwards.

can anyone recommend some anti-chafe gel/lotion/application/etc?

I used BodyGlide, a favorite around here, for a while ... until I found SportShield (liquid) to be far superior:

SportShield

A little goes a long way (one roll-on lasted me TWO YEARS and I have a relatively high training volume), and it lasts much longer than BodyGlide upon application.

Nothing wrong with BodyGlide at all, though, if it works for you.

Both can be bought at most sports stores.

Body Glide, it's a lifesaver and is available online or at most tri shops.

Bodyglide works well.

Assos chamois cream is a favorite.

Chamois BUTTer is really good.

and my personal favorite.... Gold Bond green bottle. I never bike without it. I dont use this in races, but for training rides, its awesome.


I also suggest letting yourself heal up pretty well before you try to ride again, or it will basically never go away.

Desitin (the baby diaper cream) has the same ingredients as Body Glide and is about 1/2 the price.

X2 on the Sport Shield.  The sales people at the LBS did a little test for me- they had my put bodyglide on my fingers, rub them together.  then they wiped it off with a towel.  It was all gone.  Then they had me put sport shield on my fingers, rub them together, then wipe off with a towel.  Rubbing my fingers after that- there was still a layer of protective film on.  So that convinced me and I never went back.  Although they told me bodyglide is still the best for wetsuits, sportshield is not meant to be used for wetsuits.  Sportshield comes off with soap and water.

Actually, SportShield says it works for wetsuits, and I have used it liberally for OWS and tris and it is great--there are no ingredients that would damage a wetsuit.
