Pre-race routine:

Got up at 0445. Thought to myself "what am I thinking" Robyn picked me up at 0530.
Had coffee and luna bar enroute to race
Event warmup:

Light Stretching (if you can call it that)
Swim
  • 06m
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 24s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a reverse tri. The swim was at the end.
Transition 1
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

T1 was from run to bike. Almost forgot my helmet. No problem finding my bike. There were only a few left. ;)
Bike
  • 48m 19s
  • 9 miles
  • 11.18 mile/hr
Comments:

I pushed my bike up the two big hills.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 2
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

I knocked over three bikes when I racked mine. I did not even touch them. Just the little shaking of the rack when I placed my bike knocked the others over. Luckily a friend was right there and she fixed them for me.

This transition was bike to swim.
What would you do differently?:

not knock over the bikes.
Run
  • 36m 37s
  • 3.24 miles
  • 11m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not sure I like the reverse tri setup. The run, for me, seems to be the hardest. When I was running I kept thinking I want to go home. I am more invested in the race when the run is last. Also, I do not feel bad about wanting to walk. But goodness I cannot walk if it the first of the three legs!
What would you do differently?:

Run more!
Post race
Warm down:

Wrap up in my towel and kept warm.

Event comments:

I have to say, I may have sounded negative in some of my above comments, But I finished the race. I was not last, there were several people behind me. I still feel great about doing races even if I am a BOPer. I may never be a MOPer. But at least I am a triathlete. There are so many people out there that can not say that. I passed two women on their morning walk. I heard from the peanut gallery "She looks like she is having a GREAT time" in the most sarcastic tone they could muster. All I wanted to do was comment back. I did not. I was good.

They cannot say they are a triathlete!

Great job finishing.  I've never done a reverse tri but have heard of them.  Not sure how I'd feel with a swim at the end 9too tired to swim or is it relaxing after the run and ride?)

Good race! I did the Pasadena reverse tri today, my third reverse in a row, and I have yet to do a traditional race order. The thing that kills me is running hard, biking hard, and then having to swim at the end. I completely bonked today, side-stroking my way to the finish, but it felt good to be that depleted. And you are right, you're the triathlete!
