Subject: RE: Moses Lake Family TriWe did it! I made every mistake in the book. WE got no sleep, ate no dinner last night, and got into the scariest motel in the world at midnight. That combination really helped with the chest cold I have been fighting, and I woke up basically unable to breathe.
Swim:
Since I was scared about breathing and have never practiced OWS, this was interesting. Bascially, I have been a competitive swimmer my whole life, and know that I can swim that distance...I thought I don't need no stinking practice. WRONG! I don't know exactly what happened, but I found myself right outside the first buoy and just became overcome with panic. I could not swim a proper freestyle to save my life...I have no idea what exactly occurred...I almost quit because the suit was so tight on my neck I thought I was suffocating. So, I turned over and swam an 800 backstroke. Not the smartest move, but I finished the swim in around 16 minutes...
Bike:
That course was SO windy! All I have to say is that I am one slow biker and it stinks.
Run (or pathetically slow trot ):
Um, the lack of sleep and sickness caught up with me here, as I had to walk most of the first mile. I didn't get any sort of rhythym until mile three, and I ran my slowest five 5k in a race! 31:00 or so.
That being said, I will be jumping in Lake Washington tomorrow or Monday and rededicating myself to training, hydration and SLEEP in the coming weeks. I can't wait to do it again!
Congrats, Lynne and Leslie! |
