Well, we're a week away...I know this is a HUGE race, so getting together before the race has rarely worked out...

Cindy and I usually hang out at the concession stand deck, not too far from the falls...stop and say 'hi' if you get the chance (photos of us in my blog)...we're usually at the park early to get a good parking spot...

Good luck with the race everyone...keep your fingers crossed for 'good' weather...

last  year in a comment to my race report you said G in G was getting BIG and you and your wife would likely look for a different race - just couldn't resist eh?

My wife is doing the 10k. I'll cheer for her and maybe inadvertantly cheer for you too.

Based on this forecast, its gonna be one of those "what the heck should I wear" kind of races......

Friday Night
Colder...breezy. Mostly cloudy with rain or snow likely in the evening...then partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Lows around 30. West winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
Saturday
Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs 45 to 50. West winds 10 to 20 mph.

My daughter is doing the 2k with her school's run club, so we'll be around. I'll keep my eyes open for you, although I know the crowds are huge.

The forecast has changed this morning. Saturday was going to be the only dry day. MN Ironman was looking bleak. Now everything has changed. It is going to be like last week at Lake Phalen -- cold.

Nice conditions, eh?  That granular snow and wind on the far side of river were fun (not).  The racing season has begun.

No kidding! We were actually only there for the 2k and then we bolted. My hands were almost frostbitten from trying to take pictures, juggling all of my daughter's stuff, etc. They were out of my gloves way too much and did I pay for it. BRRR

Glad you made it through! Good job.

i am glad i decided to bag it. it would have been a long drive, too. to paraphrase the bard:

i would rather have a beer to make me merry than a race to make me sad, and to travel for it too.

I cheered people on as they ran under the Ford Parkway bridge and saw a couple people with tri clothes, or other things that said multi-sport. If you went by while I was there waiting for my wife, I was the guy with the bell. clang clang clang clang.

Despite the conditions, my wife had a pretty significant PR at 52 minutes and change. I was really proud of her.

It was interesting watching the first few people just flying by and the first groups of people in shorts and singlets and then as more and more people went on, the clothing got heavier and warmer. I wasn't unhappy that I wasn't racing that one.

Kudos to those of you who did run.
