Just did the course this morning. 2 major hills and if the wind is bad (which in rochester it always is) the bike will be tough.

Whos comin?

I'm in!  Jeremy and I rode the course last weekend when it was COLD and windy.  Not much fun.  Of course there was a headwind on the big hill.

Looking forward to the first race of the year!

I don't know if I'll do it or volunteer, but I'm sure I'll be there.  If I race it is very possible that will be my first ride of the year

I'm registered, but after that review of the bike course maybe I'll reconsider...

Kidding. I'll be there.

I am in.

I am seriously considering using my single-speed commuter bike after hearing about the hills.

Really, it's not  bad.  Yes, there are a couple of hills.  I have a triple and didn't go into the little ring at all, even with the heavy wind.  Best part is that you get to go down the big hills too!  Whee!

Ok, so the forecast as of this morning (Wednesday) calls for a high of 47 and rain on Sunday. brrrr!

I'll be wearing about 16 layers. I'm such a wimp.

I'll be there short coursing it. Living close by I've rode those roads a lot and there aren't any hills on either bike course that I'd consider hard.

well you got the first one on 18th going south then the second one on 75th. Id say they arnt killers but sure are challenges. No small chain ring, but youll need to have some muscle.

I'll be there.  I rode the course last night, starting in Douglas.  Hills weren't too bad.  This will be my first race on my new bike, a Felt B12.  For some reason it seemed there were a lot of turns, maybe it's just forgetting how most courses are set up.

We should have a large turnout from TriRochester club and it sounds like a few other MN BTers as well.  If you see someone in a TriRochester kit, ask if they know Mike Ewen and stop by introduce yourself.

After looking at the forecast (which keeps getting worse instead of better) it may be hard to see those TriRochester kits under the layers.

I will be there with my husband. His first ever duathlon - my second (hardly seasoned or trained!) It sounds like it will be a little challenging - to say the least...

Oh well - it will be fun to get out there.

Good luck everyone.

Good lord!  WTF is up with this weather?  Between the slush and the ferocious wind, I nearly slid off the sidewalk on my way to the barn this morning.  We were planning on a super-short brick today, but I don't think that's going to happen.  Grrrr...

I know! I can't believe it. I'm totally hoping just for survival tomorrow, and couldn't care less about my time. It's going to be too cold for that, I think.

I did it in 2:30, won some nutrition supplement for 4th place in my AG, and rode my single-speed for the bike just to prove that, yes, I actually AM that stupid.

I owe the end of the run to a lady who passed me and got me motivated at about mile 4 or so of the 2nd run. We ended up passing a few guys who looked trashed in the last two miles, and I think that had I been running alone, I may have joined them walking.

2:02 (7th overall 1st in 20-24 age group)...I rocked the runs, but boy I cannot bike for (insert word). it took a little time to warm up the legs but overall I say the weather wasnt to bad.

Had some well deserved Chipolte after the race.

I felt good on the first run, but the couple of hills and wind + single speed = OUCH!!!!

I hammered the bike, and I felt it on the 10k 2nd run.

Overall, I liked the course. I think having two distances made it a little difficult for some people, but I didn't have any problems. It's easier to go the right direction when you have lots of people to follow.......

I did the short course and it was good.  I was dreading the run and it sucked.  The bike was good although there was no place to get in a groove.  Lots of hills and turns.  Sorry I missed you long course guys!  Kelly, it was good to see you again.

Dang, I left too much on the table on the first run, but didn't know now hard to push myself and ended up 30th (1:32) over all on the short course. I rocked the bike though with the 12th fastest bike time. I'm not sure were I ended up in my age group.

Where are all the race reports?

Considering the pain involved in riding that course on a single-speed, the last thing I want to do is re-live it in detail.
