Comments: This was an awesome race for me. I went out with much less effort than I usually do in races like these. My first mile was in 6:20, but I felt fresh. The second mile had some climbs and my legs started to feel those. My two mile split was 12:55 and I knew I was going to PR at that point, but the roughest part of the course was still coming. There was a huge hill from the 2.25 to 2.5 mile mark that I was able to push and pass about six or seven people. I love pushing on those hills, but I definitely felt it as I headed for the aid station. I splashed some water on my face and passed my mom who was cheering for me. The final mile was rough for me again. I had to fight to keep my form, but it was still not a pretty sight. This race is the biggest I have ever been at and there were plenty of people to cheer me on. I ran up the final uphill stretch strong and coasted into the finish. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I race aggressive and got a PR by :38 Post race
Warm down: Had some fruit and bagels provided by Panera Bread. Watched my dad smash his 5K PR by 1:45! There was music and plenty of fun. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not too much. I guess the hills hurt me, but I would say I did better on those than most of the people. Event comments: I have lowered my PR by ~ 2:30 these last two 5K's I have run. This was so a ton of fun and a great local race. No complaints. Last updated: 2008-05-16 12:00 AM

The race didn't start until 10:00 so I slept in and had a half of a banana before the race.
I went on a 5 min jog, stretched out, and met up with some runners I knew.
