Pre-race routine:

Got the transition area set-up, first Tri and I was really nervous!
Event warmup:

Running ,streaching out, tried to stay calm and be focused
Swim
  • 00m
  • 766 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

The swimming event was cancelled due to lack of water in the man-made lake at this time. A 2.2 mile run was subsituted instead for the Sprint portion of the Tri, followed by the planned bike race and 5K run.

Did this part in 30 mins right on my target time
What would you do differently?:

not much,it seemed like a good start
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Things went pretty smoothy on this except I was slow
What would you do differently?:

Lay stuff out better , lost my golves in the pile of stuff I had on my mat.
Bike
  • 39m
  • 13 miles
  • 20.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Everything went faily well. This is a new bike so I wasn't too familar with the shifting yet.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the course!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I was really shakey coming off the bike, my legs really buckled and the walk back to the transition area was rough. Once I got there I felt better and legs were good for the next run.
What would you do differently?:

again be more organized with my stuff in the transition area
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I was slower than I had wanted to be but still finished strong
What would you do differently?:

not much, speed will come with more training and exprience.
Post race
Warm down:

some streaching but not enough, should have put on something warmer after since I got cold and muscles started to tense up.

Event comments:

Overall a great first Triathlon for me !

Nice Job G!!!

I had those shakey legs in T2 at my first try-a-tri too.  This year I have been throwing in a 1/2 K run at the end of every bike ride and it really helped.

Next time we'll get you in the water!!!Laughing
