  • Comments: This is the best small city race in the northwest. Been to races in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Washington, and Oregon. No one goes to more effort to help the racers succeed and have a good time.

  • Comments: They made two changes to the race this year that I thought were great! First, they started the men's and women's heats separately. This helped eliminate congestion in the water. YAY! Second, there used to be a long run with your bike from transition to the mount line. They moved the mount line to where you first hit the pavement out of transition. Double YAY! My poor DD, though. She had a terrible race. Before the race she cut her finger with a knife, trying to get the tag off her new sunglasses. She was bleeding badly, but got enough bandaids on it to temporarily stop it. At the swim start, the water temperature made her lose confidence; she panicked a bit. She kept her head out of the water most of the way. In T1 she decided to take the bandaids off, figuring her thumb had stopped bleeding. It hadn't. She asked the RD for bandaids, but all their first-aid kits were out on the course. It took five minutes to find bandaids and get the bleeding stopped. By this

  • Comments: This is a great small town race that gets better every year. This race does more to support the racers than most of the big races I have been to. Great emails, super pre-race communication, lots of help on race day, and super raffle. Perhaps my only complaint is that those new to the sport tend to have little to compare their experience to and as a result no know how good a race this is. This race is beginner friendly and goes out of it's way to help first timers.

  • Comments: Last year I believe I turned around too soon on the bike, but this year I didn't. The course was better manned so that a mistake couldn't happen. There is still a bit of confusion regarding team participation. When we picked our packets up, we were told that I should wear one number, and Emily should wear the other. This resulted in a computer mix-up, and our team appeared to have a DNF on the run. I spoke to the computer guy, and he straightened it out, but only after the awards were announced. I think we would not have had this problem if we had worn the same number. If they don't get the results, including splits posted on their website this year, I will be unlikely to do this race again. Last year they never did post the splits. They seem to do well putting the race on, but really, really, (did I say really) lousy at follow up.

  • Comments: I rated this race 'best' because of the small-town atmosphere. Sure it could have been more high tech, but it didn't need to be. DD and I had a great time, and we will probably do this race again together next year.

  • Comments: need someone to direct bikers on that first turn onto country road... a pack of us missed the turn - all leaders in sprint division. we strayed 3 miles off course (1.5 out and then back)... that meant everyone passed us... ALso, get the girl on the sprint run aide station to stand in front of her table and tell athletes they can turn around.

  • Comments: Really bummed about this race. Not only was my performance not as well I hoped, but race organization was not very good. One turn on the bike course wasn't marked except for a cone in the middle of the road. Next the race was very late and not well organized. On the run the Sprint turn around had a small sign off in the side of the road and behind the support car. The girl at the aid station wouldn't speak up and didn't tell anyone it was the sprint turn around. Lucky for me, someone was complaining about it (he had ran an extra 1/2 mile) so I turned around. Jeff (one of my friends) actually ended up running the Olympic! run in his very first triathlon because of the poor marking. They also didn't give out awards for AGs except overall male/female, masters and athena/clyds (which where also weird as clyd was 180 pounds and more. That makes me within 5 pounds of being a clyd..right). Oh well, I'm just happy Ryan and Jeff are now triathletes!
