Swim
Comments: Just couldn't get it going. I went almost 50 meters before I realized I was using the wrong swim stroke. Felt like I was just out there flailing the whole time. Didn't get into a good mental state before starting. Sounds bad but I also just wansn't ready for the water to be that cold. I have been swimming indoors for the last year. When I jumped in the pool it took my breath away. Kept running into people which messed me up even further. Also I just couldn't keep water out of my goggles, swam one lap with one eye open... What would you do differently?: Do a bit more variety of swims, only swimming in indoor heated pool made me a bit soft. Also take some time to think about what my plan is before I just jump in the pool. Also yet again remember to start my watch. Be more agressive, if there are people in my way, swim around them instead of pulling up to wait. Buy new goggles. Transition 1
Comments: Just a bit bewildered and frustrated when I got out of the pool, walked/jogged to my bike. What would you do differently?: HTFU and not be such a whimp... Bike
Comments: Rode pretty well, could have probably gone a bit harder in the flats. Thought I did a bit better than what I ended up with. What would you do differently?: Ride harder. Not mess with gloves, wasted time fumbling with them. Transition 2
Comments: Completely missed my rack wasted a ton of time. What would you do differently?: Not miss my rack. Run
Comments: This run was really tough for me, lots of hills, which I do train but I guess I haven't done alot of bricks that involve hills. Just couldn't get my heard rate down. Didn't have my monitor with me but I could tell I was probably red-lining the whole time. Very dissapointed in myself with this time. I know I am not fast by any means but this time was pretty damn pathetic. What would you do differently?: Train harder, not be such a whimp. Post race
Warm down: did a bit of stretching, ate some oranges, drank some water, waited for my wife to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my 2nd triathlon and after my 1st I thought I had some things figured out, seems like I need to go back to the drawing board. I think the biggest thing is to just find some quiet time by myself to get mentally prepared. Talking to my wife and BT'ers was great before the race but I need to give myself a time to get my game face on and get mentally prepared next time. Last updated: 2008-03-30 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, grabbed a quick shower to wake up. Loaded up the bikes and headed out. Grabbed a power bar, water and bananna to eat before the race. Couldn't figure out exactly when to eat since we got there around 5:30am but didn't jump into the water until 7:53. Think I made a mistake and ate too late.
Did a light jog. Probably should have jumped in the pool when I had the chance but again the hour or so of waiting wasn't sure.
