Aside from the fact that it is BLUE...
What's your unbiased opinion? It's a 2003 P2K with all the factory spec components.
It was sweet bike for $2K New. http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/pk2.shtml
Judging from the owner account and the component wear in the pics it hasn't been ridden that much.
But it also looks like it hasn't been stored well.
He's asking $1000, but it may require a few hundred more in labor and parts to tune it up and replace a few parts (see rusted brake and chain)
Hmmm.......if you can do the tune-up and repair work yourself, and only pay for parts, that's one thing. But if you're going to end up paying basically retail anyway when you factor in all the parts and labor and whatnot.........well, why not just spare yourself the trouble and buy new in the first place?
The surface gunk on the chain and brake looks like it can be removed with just a little cleaning.. It looks like a good deal, but I'd offer him $800 for it and see what he says. at $1000 it's still a good deal, bearing in mind that you will likely not have any warranty on it as you are the second owner
The bike is the right size, and I like the geometry options presented by the Cervelo seatpost.
If I ever decide to quit the tri (or if some body part decides for me) I can still use it with the more shallow angle.
He's already thrown in the wheels. Maybe I can get him to eat the shipping and escrow...
One thousand for the P2K is reasonable enough. Figure out how much it will cost to bring the bike up to spec and offer the seller the asking price minus that amount. You can probably work out a deal that will be satisfactory to both of you. Just in case you don't buy her, what size is she?
