I saw stinker and could not believe he was about to try the swim like that. He either has some balls or is a little slow. Not sure which.

I talked to him before the swim. He said it was all he had. I felt terrible. We joked but I never saw him after our wave started.

I aslo saw one of the other guys with no wetsuit and passed him on the swim, but he got out there in front pretty early. I was just impressed his upper body didn't turn to complete ice.

Boy I would love to know what #1815 did to get an unsportsmanlike conduct. What was it, a facemask, roughing the passer?

WOW!  That's an interesting one, and the same goes for #1557 for "3.4(a) Entire Course".  WTH is THAT all about?

I was reading all these penalties too...it means the competitor did not complete the whole course - short cut, missed a turn, something. I think the referee has some discretion as to the magnitude of the penalty based on interpretation of intent, but don't quote me....

I think we need to find out who the stinker guy is and have everyone pitch in to get him a suit. Big balls on that kiddo and feel terrible knowing that it wasnt a macho thing and all he had. Kudos on the courage or the crazy!

In case you're interested - my times got updated and they are much more in line with what I had on my watch!  They much have actually found the data since it's not exact to my watch but very much in line with what I was expecting.  Problem is now that I realize I missed first place by less than 1 minute in my fat old guys 225+lb, 40+ division.

Yeah that is cool that stinker even attempted the swim then. Look at all the people that didn't even start probably due to the water. Feel bad for him if that was all he had.

There is a discussion on the Tri Wis e-mail list about a few athletes who swore at volunteers who were trying to keep them from cutting the last buoy short on the swim.  Refs were writing down numbers--that could be an unsportstmanlike penalty.

They made an announcement at some point that they DQed someone for unsportsmanlike conduct on Saturday. So something must have happened at checkin or bike racking. That is all I know....

I have a friend who was an official. Maybe they will spill the beans.

Has anyone heard from crozetiga since the race? I ended up talking to on the run...he ended up crashing on the bike and was all banged up. I'd love to get an update on how he's recovering!!

I ran with him on the run for about 5 miles. He was a hurtin' unit, but we managed to keep talking/walking/running. He finished and we spoke briefly afterward. Haven't heard from him since. But i would like to nominate him for "Donkey" hood. He didn't give up, he DTFU'd and finished. Way to go Josh!

Hello all.  I guess I will give you a little update on how i am doing.   For those who dont know, someone a little faster than me got impatient and tried to pass me going around a tight corner.  I had to take the corner too sharply to avoid hitting him and crashing us both and my front tire slid out and I bit it.  It was about mile 28 of the bike.   After I got checked out by the medical crew, I got back on my bike and completed the rest of the course.  Thanks to Ajotto for running with me for a while and it was nice talking to you Barb (Running Jayhawk).  If any of you were the ones that said kind words on you way by me,  thanks.  You guys were great!

Luckily there are not broken bones just some bruising and a stiff right knee.  Then there off course is the road rash.  My hands knee and arm are healing (slowly but surely) and the pain has subsided on them for the most part.    My shoulder is still pretty nasty looking and hurts pretty bad because it not only has road rash, but it is sunburned!!!   I couldnt put on my sunblock at T2 and my the tops of my shoulders were pretty red at the end of the day.   Overall I am feeling ok and I am very lucky that I didnt break anything.

So there is the update.  Good job everyone (at the race) and i hope to see/ meet more of you next time around

Josh

Glad to hear nothing broken and that the healing is progressing. Did the person stop/turn around/anything to acknowledge your crash? Did the person know you wrecked?

A true triathlete, and, as ajotto pointed out, Donkey candidate!

Way to gut it out!  You should've kicked the dope's azz.

Heal swiftly and well!

O, man, sorry to hear about your incident. I won't call it an "accident" because it sounds like some major stupidity was involved. I'm just glad to learn you weren't injured any worse than the bruises and road rash, not that that's any joy either. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
