Luna bar, banana, water
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 41m 15s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swimming technique is elusive to me. I am trying hard, but I guess it is a long process! Sighting really inhibits me, but I was able to get over my hyperventilation problem and swim successfully in a wetsuit in open water for the first time.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 1
  • 05m 30s
Comments:

Long run from the water exit to transition area. I doubt I will ever attempt to run barefoot and do a running mount onto my bike with my shoes preattached. I don't care about that.
Bike
  • 1h 26m 52s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.16 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Buy a better bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Everyone was listed with a zero T2 time. I guess the equipment malfunctioned.
Run
  • 1h 08m 54s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 10m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run. Miles seemed to stretch on forever, though. Did they mark them in nautical miles or something?
What would you do differently?:

Train more!
Post race
Warm down:

Taking pictures and hugging people. Eating delicious pasta dinner provided.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Um, training more and harder?

Event comments:

I am not a speed demon and probably never will be, but I felt great on this race and am very happy with a 21 minute improvement over last year on the same course!

You know the run was actually 6.55 miles - which will help your pace for sure.

Great job. That's a tough course and a 21 minute improvement is HUGE!!

Thanks for pointing that out, MissKelly! That run just seemed to go on forever, and now I know why.

Congrats on that great improvement from last year! Smile

Great description of the rain - made me laugh!  I would have done anything for that run to end at 10k!
