Is anyone else hooked on this?  My daughter spent 2 days watching this while housesitting, and now I'm hooked too. I want to supplement my training by building a Ninja Warrior training course in the backyard (but Mrs. Gearboy says noFrown).

And the commentary is great too.  I love this show!

The sunday marathons have become an important part of my life.

Also, how cool was it to see the americans get shipped over, and one make it to the third stage.

It's hysterical. I love the polite Japanese crowd. Some girl in a cheerleader outfit falls off a giant rolling log into a muddy pond, and they start clapping as if they're at a tennis match.

They had a marathon of Ninja Warrior on G4 a few weeks ago. I spent the ENTIRE day watching nothing but that show! Some of those people are just insane...

I'd like to think I could pull off a few of the obstacles but the salmon ladder and spider jump are absolutely insane!

Ninja Warrior works, no matter when. I think I could do stage 1, no issues. But then it gets all full of pullups, which is not OK. Splash.

So I'll treat myself to the Unbeatable Banzuke, where I could smoke the 7 layer daruma everytime. OOOh, and after I've conquered it, I'll check out the Most Extreme Elimination is the late night version of both, just to hear the dirty talk. Heh.

Ha!  Love that show!  DVR it all the time.  I get all worked up and start to contort, especially during the final leap off of the slider in stage 3.  As if my body lanquage will help them across the gap.

Anyone else notice that a lot of the obsticals have english names (cliff hanger, slider, spider wall)?  I wonder why...

Yeah, I notice that too - it's hilarious hearing a sting of japanese with "jumping spider" thrown in the middle of it!

I've watched all 20 tournaments... Tivoed the whole thing when they had the last marathon. I would love love love to try something like that. I love when nonJapanese get involved... it really shows how small those guys are. Even the ripped up thin as hell Americans are NBA players compared to most of the Ninja Warrior allstars. After a while you lose scale when it's all Japanese guys and I laugh every time they mention that one of the guys you start to think of as big is really 5-4 and 130lb.

That struck me as odd as well.  They must have words for Jumping and Spider?

There is a "cool factor" with English terms in Japan that makes it reasonable. It's very common to see things named in English but often the words mean absolutely nothing... same here if someone just chose some random Kanji and wrote them on a T shirt. Doesn't have to mean anything for people to buy it.
