Subject: Chafing and bodyglide

Lately, it seems I get some chafing between my leg and my man parts.  It reminds me o the old "crotch rot" from back in the camp days, but it is 100% related to my trishorts.  I am having trouble finding good tri-shorts as there aren't too many stores near by, and I like to try things on first.  So, will bodyglide work in that spot? I only wear them for some training days and rides and wear underarmour, etc the rest of the time.  Also, how long will bodyglide last?

Thanks

Yes, body glide will work. Put bodyglide anywhere that skin can rub against skin. Coat the areas good and you should have some relief.

Make sure you don't wear anything under your tri-shorts and bodyglide should be good for long ride or run. I have had it hold up for 4-6 hours without having to re-apply.

Some people use in in the underarm area also.

X 2. BG should solve the problem.

Serious question: So do you drop you pants to reapply during IM transitions? I could imagine the volunteers steering well clear of you at that point!

At Ironman, I have been told that they have mens and womens changing tents where you are out of sight of the general public. I am sure within the tents there will be plenty of nudity, but nobody is probably paying attention.

If I make the step up to IM (I'll know after Saturday), I plan on wearing three outfits; 1 for swim, bike stuff for the bike, and run stuff for the run. I will have no problem applying BG in transition if it will help me make it to the finish. I would imagine that by the time you hit T2, you really don't care much about anything other than maintaining forward movement!

A more cost effective option for training is Bag Balm, I use it for long rides and runs and find it works real well. I also put it on before tris. I didn't seem to have any issues at the Muncie HIM, using it with just bike shorts DeSoto 400's (no wetsuit) and all the rain on the bike, followed by a sunny and hot run, I had very minor skin issues. With all the water I thought I would've had more issues. Of course BG is an easier option if you need to re apply during a race.

I have found Desitin works great to prevent chaffing.

How do you like your Desoto's?  I am going to need a new pair of shorts for next season and have been looking at the Forza model.
