Pre-race routine:

I stayed over at my friend's place so that was nice not to drive 30 mins in when we started at 8am. We got there at about 7 and had to rush around regardless. Tried not to talk to everybody so I could get ready. Discovered that the transition racks were PACKED like sardines. Decided not to keep my stuff out of my bag or it would be scattered and wrecked.
Event warmup:

We had to swim a bit to the start so that was good to get moving and check goggles
Swim
  • 46m 41s
  • 2000 meters
  • 02m 20s / 100 meters
Comments:

Poo swim!!! I have never been in a mass start before and I didn't like it. I tried to stay out of the way but got stuck/pummeled etc. I couldn't breathe so I just stayed back a bit. After I got some space it was fine...no crazy waves or anything out there thank goodness. Rounding the buoy got crazy again then I got caught in a pack again...arrgh. It was kind of choppy on the way back too. I'm suprised that my time was OK despite all the chaos and slow transition
What would you do differently?:

Get used to the washing machine pack swim I guess
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 was added into swim time
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was dizzy coming out of the Lake and needed a bit of extra time. The transition area was so packed that my stuff needed to stay in my bag, slowing me down as well.
Bike
  • 1h 57m 44s
  • 56.5 kms
  • 28.79 km/hr
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

It took me FOREVER to rack my bike because there was absolutely no room. I seriously had to move bikes and try not to cause an avalanche. The short course folks were sharing a rack with us which was kind of stupid because they were ALL back from their bike by the time we got back
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...I had no control over the crowded transition
Run
  • 1h 21m 5s
  • 15 kms
  • 05m 25s  min/km
Comments:

I had a great run. Just flew. I don't think I even run like that in training :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked, talked to a million people, went to the food tent to discover there was NO FOOD LEFT :( I wasn't THAT slow!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Getting stuck in the swim and poo transition area situation
