Pre-race routine:

To my surprise coach Brett was also competing this race. I received an email from him wishing to carpool. No problem since he always has alot of great advice for competing and racing. My brother arrives early and then the coach arrives riding a scooter. It was a nice scooter and maybe I will have to pick one up. We met some of my friends from work and we sorta spilt up before the race.
Event warmup:

run 5 min & stretch oh I bumped into Eileen and Elizabeth which was nice

Comments:

I found out the coach did not have a set plan and offered to pace me.
Yippe since last time I PR someone had paced me. I was excited, although I have not had much speed training. My main focus this year has been cycling and swimming. My co-worker some how caught up to me at mile 8.
Then he passed me, so it was on. This is his first race ever so I was proud and jealous at the same time. Coach tells me its time to give all you got at mile 10. I repsonded I don't have anything left I'm spent.
He tells me its mental and lets go. I tell him ok, I will give it try.
My HR goes through the roof and I know I can't maintain this pace.
I start to drop behind and the coach slows down to help. I tell him I feel like vomiting so we slow a little. Then mile 12 arrives, i stop for water but start to run right away. I was not thirsty I just wanted a break.
Finally the finish line and I do not have any energy but somehow with all the people cheering I manage to find some speed and sprint in.
What would you do differently?:

Speed train
Post race
Warm down:

walk around, stretch

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough training, story of my life

Event comments:

Mainly I am focused on helping my brother run his first marathon, but I am concerned since it took him 3hrs to complete this race. He may still need a bigger running base.
