Hi. Does anyone use the Garmin quick release kit? How does it look on your bike? And how's it different from the bike mount at Amazon (I see the bike mount is probably for the 405 but will the bike mount work for the 305 also)?

I believe the bike mount is designed to incorporate the watch band that comes with the unit itself.  But when you get the quick release you get a new band that allows you to snap the unit from your wrist to the bike quickly.  It basically looks like any other bike computer mount.  I love mine for racing BTW.

Haven't seen a bike computer mount up close. I'm a newbie. Will it fit any handlebar? Have you had any problems about the watch falling off your arm or bike (especially on bumps at high speeds)?

Thanks for your reply.

This is my second season and I have had no problems with the 305 falling out of either the bike mount or the wrist band.

Thanks, kenj. Another question: Does the GPS get a little erratic when it's on your bike, as some reviews have said (they say your body would block the GPS signal)?

I really haven't had a problem with the gps on the bike (or for running for that matter).  When the battery was going bad in the hr strap, I seemed to lose that signal sooner on the bike than when running, but a new battery cleared that up.

There are pictures of 305's mounted on various bikes in a couple of threads. Should be pretty searchable.

I just got my 305 back from a good samaritan after knocking it off the quick release wrist strap during a run. To be fair, I knocked it pretty good against a steel gate post and a normal person would have looked to see if it was still there. I was too focused on the water fountain on the far side of the gate.

On the bike, I've hit some bone jarring pot holes that knocked my aerobottle sideways, but the Garmin has never budged. My body doesn't seem to ever block the signal and the results are very accurate when you zoom in tight on a Google map (it shows which side of the road you were riding on, both paths if you do an out and back).

Once in a very rare instance it will get some crazy results as some have posted in other threads. Out of a couple hundred workouts, I can recall one hiccup were it told me I was going over 1000 mph for a few seconds on a run.

I use it and I like it. I have it mounted, and it fits with an aero-drink bottle on my bars.

My 305 did pop off my quick release when I first got it.  I am not surprised thought because I actually rode accros the rumble strips that line some roads so it got a pretty good jolt.  Luckily I found it though.

I've got the bike mount and quick release kit, and have zero problems with it.  Plus I like the velcro strap for running better than the one that comes with the Garmin.

Two hours into my ride I hit a pothole and my 305 got jarred from the mount and broke apart on impact. looks like its time to buy a 405. Anyone have photos of the 405 mounted on your bike?

I also like having the velcro strap for the run as opposed to the regular watch style band.
