Pre-race routine:

Ate Shredded Wheat 'n Bran w/ skim milk.
Event warmup:

Walked almost a mile to get to race start.
Run
  • 54m 30s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 27s  min/km
Comments:

Few sips of water at mile 4. I ran with a friend who hasn't been running for 3 months for the first 4 miles. After we got water, she told me to just "go for it" so I picked up the pace, and blasted home for the last 2+ miles. I probably was able to go strong in the end because I was steady for the first 4... But I will admit, the pace we held in the begining was just fine. I considered this race a training run--a kick off to my MARATHON TRAINING!
What would you do differently?:

Have a different watch... I tried to time the race on my own (since there was no timing chip, etc. but my watch freaked out, somehow reset all functions, and so, I didn't get an accurate time on the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much of one--drinking beer! Whoo-hoo. And then the walk back to the car.

Event comments:

I'm so pissed at the timing system. They didn't give me a little time thingy at the finish line, so I was worried, and went BACK in the shoot to the front to ask for one, and they kid was like, "you don't need it" so then I was way back from where I SHOULD have been in line. So the time is my best, honest, guess as to what I ran.

Debbie -- are you saying no one pulled the bottom portion off your race bib??  If they did, then you should be able to find your time online somewhere...

Regardless.  GREAT RACE!!  It says A LOT that you were able to BLISTER the last 2 miles

G/L with the marathon training!!

Debster, very nice race this weekend. Just think, while you were out getting more fit, the rest of the world was getting more fat. Great time!

Hey, we BTers had a party out there -- just separately    Awesome time Debbie, that's very cool that you were able to book it at the end.

I have to admit something really stupid, I thought the bottom rip off tab of the number was like a receipt or something so I just ripped it off at home, and then it ended up in Wendy's purse.  So I had it but never turned it in... DOH!

At any rate, I kept time with my own watch, glad it didn't poop out on me.

I look at the 10K map and think man, that's far to run!
