We had a couple of local pros over - set up the projector through the computer so we could watch it on big screen - and I went to bed   Heard Kyle Bennet dislocated his shoulder but made it through to the semi's, Mike Day tore it up, and Donny Robinson made the semi's as well.

I WILL watch tonight though

watched some of this on dvr yesterday and was looking forward to watching the final, pretty hardcore sport.  but can someone explain to me how the american guy (kyle?) who was hurt and then got up and finished qualified through to the next round?  i didn't quite follow the explanation given by the commentators.

it's based on points. Kyle Bennet had two top finishes before that race so he advanced. We r driving up north for the grand nationals in ky labor day weekend - hoping to see some of the olympic racers there as well.

ah, okay.  i hadn't watched it before then so i was lost.  thanks for that.  so in the final, is the winner determined by points or by who finishes first?

What's going on with this? I thought competition was rained out yesterday? (But sometimes this whole time-difference thing is confusing as they speak on Beijing time on occasion and on EST time on other occasions.)

When I was watching last night, they said it was rained out til tomorrow.  10pm EST is 10am Beijing time so I was thinking tomorrow meant after 8pm EST (so 8am Beijing time).  But like you I get confused b/c they cross speak a lot...

Did you see the "competitor" crash and break an arm/collar bone but still get on the bike and finish?  THAT is olympic spirit.  I was touched....

EDIT:  Fixed.  Removed the nationality of the athlete.  I would hate to offend anyone by identifing the nationality and perhaps be missinterpreted that only that particular nationality has the olympic spirit, which is clearly not the case.....
