Expert 686 oregon ave, | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits I have a personal experience to share-take what you want from it. My tri club got set up with Xterra a month or two ago and the gave us this great deal on their wetsuits. It happens to look exactly like this one. So I guess we are not that special. Anyway, that's not my experience. I waited a month for the discount code to be given to our club so I could get the new, cool suit. I got the code, ordered, and waited. A week later, someone from Xterra called to tell me that suit was on backorder and should be in the following week. No problem, as long as it is just a week more. I wait another week and still no suit. I called them (3 times) and finally get a rep to help. They had a lame excuse as to why they never got back to me. Something about not understanding my name, although I gave them a phone number and order number too. Anyway, the suit I wanted would not be available for another two weeks. It was still on backorder. I had a race in a week and I couldn't wait. So 2 weeks have passed since I ordered, several calls made, and nothing was on the way and race day was quickly approaching. The thing that got me was that they had nothing to offer to rectify the situation. It was suggested to get last year's model from the warehouse which was almost half price and they would send that to me (regular mail). I was even told by the rep the only difference between last year's suit and this year's suit is the graphics which is totally untrue. The type of rubber used not is totally different then last year. Anyway, I needed a suit asap and went with last year's model and asked them to ship it overnight (since I have already waited 2 weeks and I had to initiate getting this problem squared away) They said they would for an additional $50.00. After much discussion I got it in 3 days for a $20.00 charge. All things said and done I paid $2.00 less total for last year's model then this year's model which is very much different. I am also not the only one who has had this happen. There are others in my my club who have ordered suits only to find them on back order and no offers to rectify the situation.. Do I like the suit? Yes, it is a good suit, no complaints about that. Maybe they have an excess of the old ones and this is some way to try and dump them??? Maybe I just had a bad experience??? Take what you want from it. My opinion, be ready for a backorder and not the best customer service but a good suit in the end for a good price. |

Expert 937 Traverse Cityish | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits I on the other hand have nothing but praise for Xterra, I got one of their suits last year at a discount. It came four days later and it's served me very well since. Hopefully they have inventory to push when they publish these coupon codes. |

Master 1920 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits I HATE HATE HATE my xterra suit. It is a piece of junk. I got it for 50% off, and loved dealing with the company themselves, so I've got no complaint with the customer service. I also really liked it for the first 3 mos. I had it. However, I've had the suit for 1.5 years now, and it looks like it's been to war. I've done my best to take care of it, but just leaving it in transition while racing has done it in. There are HUGE creases everywhere. Also, the problem is that their rubber sucks, and if it gets a little bit warm out, and there are 2 pieces of rubber touching each other, it will stick like glue. When I tried to separate those pieces, I've ripped 2 giant holes in my suit. There was nothing else I could've done. Am I supposed to properly hang it up in transition? My T1 times already suck enough In addition, all of my seams are coming apart- despite the fact that the suit, if anything, is a little big on me. Oh, and even though it's a bit big, it gets so stuck on my arms and legs that even with help, I can't get it off. I know other people who have the same issues with their Xterra's. Even though it's a really good deal, if you can find a suit that will last longer, I'd go for it. |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits Absolutely love my wetsuit and the customer service. I actually got the wrong size and they shipped me another one in 4 days and told me to keep the one that fit better. My suit is over a year old and looks and feels brand new. My wife's suit was backordered so they upgraded her to the next level for free and she loves her suit as well. It's wierd how different these replies have been though. Interesting. |

Master 1882 Chandler, Arizona | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits Hey, that sounds like a great deal. I was going to wait until next season to get a suit as I only have two biathlons, a sprint and an Oly remaining this season. With this I can get a Vortex2 for under $200. I wanted to wait as I'm trying to lose some more weight but I've already lost 10lbs and now might be a good time to get a suit.
Would you recommend going to a tri shop and trying on suits first or are the fitting charts pretty accurate? I'd hate to mislead the guys at the tri shop and waste their time but this is a pretty good deal. |

Master 1920 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: RE: 50% off Exterra Wetsuits Do you ever notice that not many other companies offer their wetsuits for 50% off about 3-4 times per year? How long do wetsuits typically last? If Xterra just has suits that need to be replaced every 1-2 years, and you're fine with that (or don't use it often) then sure, it's a great deal! I just was under the impression that they would last more than 2 seasons. |

I just was under the impression that they would last more than 2 seasons. A wetsuit should last more than 1-2 years. I wonder if it is a specific model of the Xterra that people are having a problem with. I have a XTerra Vector Pro2 that I beat up pretty bad and have never had a problem with. Mine is 1.5 years old and has been worn in 10 or so races and another 10 or so training swims. I have not seen any other companies that offer their wetsuits for 50% off on a regular basis. Maybe the difference is that I trained in mine a lot. This summer I've used it almost once a week, if not more. When I was living in San Diego, I could use it almost all-year (and yes, I washed it after every use in the saltwater). I guess, if you're going to buy the suit- DO NOT let the rubber touch each other when it's warm. Also, just watch the seams. |
