Man I just decided to wait until 2010 so I would be 50!  I could have done one in 09 and been aged up!  I turn 50 on 12/27/09.  Darn

I thought they already did that? Or was that just IMNA events? At IMFL '06, I raced as 40 even though i was 39 on race day.

This means that since I will be 35 in June 2009, all my 2009 race will switch to 35-39?

Should I be happy or not? My target will be a slot for Florida 70.3. I think there will be less slot for that age group and stronger people

They've gone back and fort over the past few years. The past two years IMNA (NA Sports) and WTC has used your race day age. I know in 03 and 04 it was age as of the end of the calendar year.

Yeah, I heard this as well. Makes more sense. I had to race Vineman as a 35-39 but qualified for Clearwater as a 40-44!

Sign up for IMFL or IMAZ in November this year for '09.

I too can't wait to hit that 50-54 AG. Strange as we get older how we like it now compared to before we did tris.

Though it is tough for me to wait until 2010, my daughter is graduating from college, my wife and I are going to take a vacation to celebrate our 25th anniversary and I will be doing a lot of traveling with my job next year.  I think I would get too frustrated with the commitment to IM training.  If I can stay busy with HIM and shorter tris with some centuries and a couple marathons, I should keep my motivation up to move into 2010 for the IM.  It's even hard typing this as I have never believed in letting external circumstances dictate my internal decisions.  Maybe this is what they call wisdom with age!

Argh.  I did an IM race earlier this year 3 weeks before my b-day.  I was the third oldest in my AG.  I much more prefer now being the youngin' in my new AG.
