Subject: Garmin Forerunner 305 Mount Question

So after ordering the "quick release" mount I discovered this is not what I want.  I'm looking for one that allows you to strap the entire watch to the mount.  I found this..

Can anyone confirm this is the unit I want?

i have no idea about that mount you posted, didn't know one existed.

That looks like a different version of the quick release to me.

I'm not keen on using the watch pins as the mount point.  I'd prefer a more rugged mount.  I also dislike the velco wrist strap that is required with that mount.

What about the 405? Not to hijack, but I just mounted my 405 on my bike and hate it, would prefer to use an adapter and mount the adapter sideways on the aero-bars like I did for my old bike computer.  Anyone know if such a beast exists?

"I'm not keen on using the watch pins as the mount point"

It's not exactly clear in the picture, how the the 305 mounts, but my guess is that it's still mounted using the watch pins. The 305 is mounted by watch pins on your wrist, what's wrong with mounting it on your bike by watch pins? That's what watch pins are for!

I have the quick release kit and love it! I have never once worried about the 305 falling off. Also, have you tried the velcro strap? I have it and I think it's way more comfortable than the rubber strap that the 305 came with.

qliedtke - 2008-08-27 12:26 PM  I have never once worried about the 305 falling off.
Mine actually ejected when I hit a line of rumble strips.  Only happened once and it was a line of strips that lined the highway so it did take a good jarring.

I still love my 305 & mount kit but I do keep an eye if I hit a big bump.
