I would practice and see what works for you. In general there are some things that are common to every triathlete but some things might be slightly different. Practice-Practice-Practice. Picture the transition in your mind then go through it for real. Do it several times. In one thread I read said to set up your transition area, dump a bucket of water over your head to simulate coming out of the water, transition from swim to bike. Ride around the block. Come back and transition to the run. Be sure to get off your bike early and run to your practice transition area. Do this over and over. Get comfortable with setting up your area, using to area to go from swim to bike to run, then reset and do it all again.
x2 - set up a transition in your driveway and practice! Your neighbors will look at you funny, but that's ok.
Know in your head the order you will do things. Like... run run run, get to your spot... What's the first thing you'll do? Put on your helmet, or your sunglasses, or your shoes? Figure it out and memorize it. Think about it as you're finishing the swim and finishing the bike. What's the first thing you're gonna do? Then the next?
PS good luck at your first tri!! |
